Guest guest
Negative answer from me flower. I brew a wee bit sloppy (See " Instructables " Youtube), smoke and have only had mo(u)ld once and that was the memorable occasion when forgot *both* starter *and* SCOBY and then took a few mins to wonder why I'd got mould. I presume she's adding a bit of acidic KT starter? Mould is not at all hard to grow, leave an orange, bit of bread, slice of bell pepper out and watch it happen. See " 's mouldy bit " in the photos. Guest guest
She might want to check other parts of her house for mold. There might be a problem in the walls or on other things. > > I introduced a friend to K-tea brewing recently. Guest guest
How much starter KT is she using? She may want to try increasing that and/or using 1/4 cup of distilled vinegar in her next brew. Gayle Re: Mold Problem > She might want to check other parts of her house for mold. Guest guest
>Buy white sweatshirts and pants and bleach them to death every time they get exposed. Bleach worked for me-now I know there are going to be a few posts about how bleach is toxic and not great for mold-but it worked for me. That's the bottom line with this problem - if it works for YOU-then do it! If the bleach odor bothers you I'd rinse in vinegar- it works. Guest guest
Hello, Thank you for your responses re my mold problem. I am not able to tolerate either the essential oils (Thieves Oil) or bleach, so these are not an option for me, but I appreciate your willingness to help. I'm also sure that there are other issues in the indoor air that are a problem for me as I am sensitive to many things. It is so difficult to figure out. Thanks, Carole
