She writes it for Natural Desiccated Thyroid and the grain(s) amount plus the

amount of days. Note: that most Canadian pharmacies only sell in 100 lots. I

asked my dr and she willing writes my NDT Rx in 100's. I take 3 grains (plus

compounded T3 that I get here locally) that would normally be 270 for 3 months.

She writes 300 one-grain tablets with 3 refills for a year. I like the one-grain

tablets as I take throughout the day and do not need to cut it up. I end up with

an extra 120 pills so have an extra 40 day supply at the end of the year. Nice

that I do not have to refill so often. Other drs may not be so generous. This is

something you cannot do with USA pharmacies because the insurance police.

Hope this helps,

better than armour. it's my understanding that erfa is the canadian generic for

armour. i get an Rx for armour and tell them i want erfa. i scan it and send

it attached to an email.

thyroid and stopped eating gluten i lost about twenty pounds. i still get wheat

belly often ... and am still trying to find the foods that are doing it. it's a

lot of trial and error and listening to your body ... not just what the doctors

or test numbers say. hang in there and ... keep your chin up. :)

I do not understand your question? What dosage of Armour are you taking? What

is it that you want to add T3 to? Erfa Thyroid comes in 1/2, 1, and 2 grain

tablets. (I buy smaller dosed pills because I take it more often than just once

a day.) You cannot add anything to a premade drug that is where compounding

comes in.

NDT (Armour, Erfa, NatureThroid, Acella etc) all contain both T3 and T4. One

grain of NDT in The USA has 38 mcgs of T4 and 9 mcgs of T3. Adjust up or down

for other strengths. Erfa has slightly less hormones- 35 mcgs of T4 and 8 mcgs

of T3 per each grain.

The dosage of thyroid med(s) is highly individual. I have extreme low T3 issues

so I take 3 grains of NDT (Erfa) and 45 mcgs of compounded T3 daily. (In total,

I take 69 mcgs of T3 and 105 mcgs of T4 daily.) I have not meant another thyroid

patient who is also on this same dosage.

Also, in NDT there is a higher amount of T3 vs. that in the human body. Some

patients cannot tolerate this higher amount of T3 in NDT. Thus, they may need to

take synthetic T4 (levothyroxine) in addition to a small amount of NDT.

I hope this helps,
