Wow another thing in common, Vinny just got over Thrush about 3 weeks

ago. The doc said it is unusual for older babies to get it. I had

to stop breastfeeding him within the first 5 weeks because he was

draining me dry. All he did was eat and eat and eat but he would

never get the glazed look. The minute I gave him formula his eyes

were filled with content. I had him on the concentrated formula and

one day I bought the powder and noticed a big difference in his

spitting up, so we switched to thst. I'm going to switch him over to

regular milk soon so we'll see how that works.

My son is one today. He still only drinks 4-5 oz. of formula in a

sitting. He is eating most people food. He has a fit everytime we put him in his

highchair to eat, and it usually takes 3-4 bites with him spitting it out before

he will eat. I think he doesn't realize he is hungry until he trys it a couple

times. But he is never slow to let you know when he is finished. We don't do

sugar foods but he is definately a bread man just like his dad and 3 year old

brother! is 24-25 lbs. So we don't worry too much but we try to stay

away from sweets and breads until after the veggies and meats. Though I will say

when he used to spit up (and sometimes still does) I have just always felt that

it was because he ate too much.

Hi ,

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I ended up in the hospital

yesterday because of my back/neck. I think I'm gonna put Vinny on

whole milk soon. Probably within the next 2 weeks. I started my

oldest when he was 10 months and he ate more that him. At around a

year - year and a half his drinking and eating slowed down. If it

doesn't woork out with Vinny I'll put him back to formula.

I just know that most pediatricians reccomend waiting until they are 12months. I

am no expert on the subject. These reccomendations seem to be always changing. I

have a 15 yr old son and back then you where supposed to sleep them on there

belly and formula until they where almost 2. So I dont know for sure if they are

still saying 12 months on formula. We have our 9 month check up on the 24th I

will ask. I am sure your Dr has talked to you about it though

I want to make a little suggestion on switching over to whole milk from formula.

Some babies have trouble making this aburpt change, so when Garrett was a baby

my pedi suggested that I gradually decrease the amount of formula and replace

that amout with milk.

So, if he normally had a 6oz bottle I would put 4 oz formula and 2 oz milk. Then

each week I would increase the milk by 2 oz and decrease the formula by 2 oz

until we were completely on whole milk. I didn't do this with my other boys and

they did have trouble with the abrupt change, so I think this was a very helpful

suggestion and it really worked well with Garrett.
