Aortoiliofemoral angiogram

I have a patient who is having an aortoiliofemoral angiogram. Doc says they

used a s/l " Platts wire " to cannulate the femoral artery. I can't even come

up with anything that sounds like " Platts " in my Tessier Surgical Word Book

or my Stedman's Surgical/Medical Word Book.

Anyone there who does ops on a regular basis have any idea what he is saying?
