Re: Estriol versus estradiol

I took the estriol with a teeny bit of estradiol for about 10 months

and felt pretty good but still had a few small things that I noticed,

like some slightly dry patches of skin, occasionally getting

the " itchies " on my arms, and still had some core body heat on my

back in early morning and slight burning on my face now and then esp.

around 3:00 in afternoon, and my PMS right before period was getting

more like Joan Crawford.

However, now I take the estrogel, one ruler in AM and one ruler in PM

and all those symptoms are gone except I still get slight core body

heat in early morning, before I take my morning dose. I just think

there is nothing I can do about the core warmth unless I were hooked

up to IV drip of estradiol. My weight has not changed in the 4

months I have been taking the estrogel, my periods are the same as

they were before, and my PMS has less rage. THe only difference is I

have fewer little symptoms so higher estradiol gets rid of more

symptoms than the estriol.

Helen - I am in agreement with the previous poster - I started on bi-est (80/20) and got no relief until I went to straight estradiol. I would recommend you listen to dr vliet's webcasts. you can find on herplace.com. she seems to have the info that makes the most sense to me.

and yes, it's a very conflicted topic - so I read everything I can find on it and do what makes me feel the best.

Is the estrogel compounded or do you get from regular pharmacy? I

also feel like with the heat I feel sometimes that I am cooking from

the inside.

Thanks,

Barbara

I just order the estrogel from overseas. The dose prescribed in

Europe is up to two rulers a day whereas the pump dose on American

estrogel prescribed by a cotor and filled at pharmacy is equivalent

to one ruler a day. Two rulers works better for me. To me it is

just quality of life issue so I use two rulers.

The bi-est cream I had used was compounded at Kroger and had olive

oil base and took forever to soak in and to me was not much bang for

the buck and was not user frinedly with the greasiness issue. I like

the gel-it soaks right in in 3 minutes.

Do you need a prescription and where do you get it?

Thank you.
