Did anyone watch Mystery Diagnosis last night, 01/11/09, at 10 p.m.

central standard time on the Discovery Health Channel?

The first story was about a 34 year old woman who was sick with

cough, fatigue, shortness of breath, weakness, fever etc. Doctor

after doctor could not, did not diagnose her correctly and she became

extemely sick. Finally, a specialist suspected lung cancer and did a

test where they went down into her lungs to get a biopsy of what may

be causing the problem. It was not cancer, INSTEAD the

culture/biopsy began growing " organisms " that turned out to be

penicillium, cladosporium, aspergillus and stachybotrys. Surprise

Surprise. The doctor suggested they check their townhouse for fungal

growth. They thought he was crazy to suggest this. Behold, the wall

that connected their townhome with the next had mold behind it. This

wall is where the counch in the family room was where the woman slept

all the time.

I did not get the name of the physician. Did anybody out there get

his name? I did get the name of the hospital. It was 'Saddleback

Memorial Hospital " . I could not believe what I was hearing and

seeing...finally. Her story was as if many of us wrote it ourselves.

He spoke the truth on what mold will do to people. He diagnosed her

correctly. The rest of her family did not get sick, but he informed

them not everybody reacts the same way. She was one who mold could

kill. They moved out of their townhouse leaving everything behind.

She is doing well but has to continue to be careful having been

diagnosed with Hypersensitive pneumonitis.
