That's about double my intake, and many times that of some members of this group ... but only two-thirds of U.S. average intake. Have you been experimenting with your food intake to smooth out those highs and lows? I'd be 180-200 just from a snack, because I was being so careful about fat intake that I was eating too carby for my pancreas and level of insulin resistance. Many people report trouble with more than 35 grams of intake at one sitting. Susie
Guest guest
>I've >only been on multiple injections a day since the beginning of August and I >seem to be doing quite a bit better. ***I'll bet you are, ! When I chose to go on insulin (doc kept adding pills and more pills), doc started me on good old 70/30 twice a day. Once I realized how insulin worked, I switched to R and N separately for better control, and eventually to H and U, because I was still spiking and crashing on the N, which has definite peaks and valleys of effectiveness. The U has a smooth effect with no peaks, thus no hypos. I was having to snack too much at night on the N, so I wouldn't hypo at 2-3am. In any event, insulin sure helped my control. Guest guest
, what I did was meter before each shot and adjust it 5% for each 10% my sugar was off. I adjusted my dinner combined dose of N according to my fasting reading. I changed my normal dose over several days by looking back at m record of shots and readings. I think you can do a lot better than the single adjustment you mention. Sam
