Guest guest
How about Tuberculosis,or some other mycoplasmal disease? It can show the same signs of disease as RA. You could have a skin test but the results may not be valid if you are on the methotrexate. I know they would not show up if you are on corticosteroids, [prednisone] Sincerely rheumatic need help Hello to everyone. I have a problem that I need advice on I know a lot of you are familiar with what happened to me in Dec.and some of you might not be . I have had RA for about 10 years my sister has had it for about 12 years we were both on methotrexate for about 8 years in Dec I was in a wreck and the steering wheel hit me in the chest I went ot the hospital and they said my ribs were bruised about 5 days later I went back to the hospital because I was getting to where I couldn't breathe they said I had the worst case of pneumonia they had ever seen that night I had resp failure and was put on life support they told my family I wouldn't make it thru the night while I was in there they run a tube into my broncioles the dr told my sister that he found something he had never seen before after about 2 days he decided that it was cancer he told her it was a rare type (Squmious Cell Carcinoma ) but that is the most common type .He was my mothers Dr just before she died and he swore that she had cancer but he couldn't find it so on her death certificate he put heart failure. they gave me fourteen treaments of radiation Which normal amount is 6 weeks everyday on the last exrays there was a spot on my lungs that wasn't there when I went into the hospital , so they wanted to give me chemo too ( this was a pulmunary Dr) in the meantime I wanted a second opionion so I went to an oncoligist . he looked at my exrays and told me he didn't see anything that looked malignant so he done a ct scan and called the other Dr.and then he decided I needed chemo for that spot and he told me my broncioles were clean as a whistle that my lungs looked beautiful except for that spot. which he couldn't be 100% sure it was cancer now the strange thing is my sister is getting the same thing she has been sick for about a year like I was and they kept saying sinus infection she has a spot on her lung now too and is really sick with vomiting diarrea, and can't hardly breathe and coughing.her Dr,says she has a rheumatoid lung desease they are coming up with 2 different things when we have the same symptoms.I have searched the internet and I found a site on rheumatoid lung deseases but everytime I ask the dr if that could be it they say no they say it's not caused from metho. to make a long story shor they don't know either .so I really don't know what to do about the chemo I have been seeing an herbilist and I feel better now then I have in a year . can anyone tell me what desease associated with arthritis or anything else could have caused the spot or any suggestions where I might look or any suggestions about the chemo, any help would be appreciated Burlyne

Guest guest
Nina, DDI is Doctor's Data. I have their #, etc. at home so will e-mail again later. If you call their 800# they will send you a list of doctor's in your area who use their services and can request the kit. I had a hair analysis done by another company quite a few years after having had my fillings replaced. (Ten years ago I had lost my ability to spell, had chronic fatigue (undiagnosed), weighed only 82 lbs down from a natural wt. of 110+ at 5'6 " and eating appropriate or extra large portions of healthy food.) I did not know about the counting rules at the time and haven't found back the results to look at them now that I know the counting rules. My hair analysis did reveal other high metals. I've addressed them but haven't retested. I knew about DMSA, but didn't understand the appropriate dosing schedule so luckily I chose not to try it. I went with gut instinct on that and on the fact that as a vegan I didn't want to hassle with switching it all to vegicaps!) I have done numerous other alternative therapies and supplements in addition to a gluten-free, casein-free, vegan diet. I can list the various appproaches I've used in another post if you want to know more. S On Fri, 27 April 2001, nina@... wrote: > > <html><body> > <tt> > Dear ,<BR> > Thank you for your reply. Guest guest
Dear Nina, Yes, lots of people on this list have personal experience with doing mercury detox with kids. Yes, lots of people on this list have had (and are having) positive results. Both of your questions seem unlikely to get a lot of responses. This list deals in many details of risk/safety of treatment, in minute little bits. " Does anyone have any experience with... " -- well, what would someone say to that? Beyond " yes " one could write a sentence or a volume. I don't mean to discourage you--- another way to say it is " yes, you have reached the right place. " So, go ahead now and ask more detailed questions, or just read for a while. If you look in the FILES section you can find a log of 's posts about chelation progress with Kenny (her son). It covers 6 months and might give you some insights into both risks and potential of this treatment. Also in FILES is a report on the results of a survey of the list regarding progress and results of chelation. I will briefly list the risks of chelation that I'm aware of. I am NOT trying to include every risk that could ever exist, just those that come to my mind at the moment: 1. it may be a waste of time and money if your kid is not mercury toxic. 2. both DMSA and ALA can decrease immune function in some people. 3. if you use the wrong protocol and your kid is merc toxic, you can have " redistribution " of the mercury to other (worse) places (e.g. from body to brain). 4. if you use a " good " protocol and your kid is merc toxic, you can have a lot of mercury toxic symptoms during the time period when you are doing chelation. (Even if you do it perfectly, the mercury has to get out of the body which involves going through the bloodsystem, liver, colon, kidneys, etc) 5. chelation is stressful on the kidneys and liver and no doubt all kinds of detox systems (lymph, etc). Poisons are generally stressful to get rid of. (beats the heck out of keeping the poison in your body tho!) 6. it is a pain to get up in the middle of the night. There is a serious risk that you will be sleep deprived! I hope this is of some assistance. best, Moria p.s. If your child is mercury toxic, he will benefit a great deal from the treatment, regardless of the progress he is already making-- so, yes, if he is toxic, you would still want to treat. Also, I think someone else already responded to your statement about the mercury " numbers " you quote. Don't go by mercury numbers. They don't mean anything. RESPONDING TO: From: nina@... What are the dangers of this type of >chelation? and is it worth the risk? I'm too tired to ramble about the dangers right now--- oh, and I think Andy answered that part? As for the potential gains, I shall refer you to here: /files/LOVE_LETTERS Please note that there is a LOT of content here, and it is not all reduced down to short items. PLEASE READ IT ALL. Take your time -- take 2 or 3 weeks if you want, but PLEASE try to read it all. It took many months for me to start to REALLY CATCH ON that this " chelation thing " really helps many kids significantly. People post wonderful stuff, but not all that often--- needle in a haystack. Anyway, we've collected many of the needles for you. This will save you having to read about 70 posts a day (on this list) to get....... In other words, it is a lot of content, but not compared to the avalanche of content that flies by here...... Do find out what you are getting into with chelation. The more you learn the more you can evaluate the dangers of chelating AND THE DANGERS OF NOT CHELATING. best wishes, Moria
Guest guest
I only received one response to a request to fill out a survey for my thesis in Communications Disorder. I am a parent of a child with autism and my survey involves parental observations of children after immunizations. Please e-mail me and I will e-mail it back to you. I tried doing an attachment, but learned you can't. And I tried copying it to this letter but I can't do it when it is protected, then it gets out of alignment. So, if you can e-mail me at cbostx@... I would appreciate it. It only takes 5 minutes. Thanks! Guest guest
Hello, welcome! I am not from Miss., but click DATABASE (at left) and then click the Dr.'s/Referring physicians choice. There is also a Band/Helmets choice that you can look in. Otherwise, I believe that you should ask your primary ped for the name of a pediatric neurosurgeon or.... you will get more advice shortly! Guest guest
Hi, Welcome the group! How old is your baby? Has your pediatrician already diagnosed the plagio and tort? Are you interested in finding out about helmeting/banding options in your area? We have a ton of information here at the site, including some severity assessment forms in the links/severity assessment of plagio, and b & a phtotos in the photos/before and after folder. Maybe you could take a look around the site when you have time and let us know if you have any more questions! I hope we can help you find some information fro the Mississippi area - so far we don't have any specialists or helmet/band facilities listed for Mississippi yet (I checked the Helmet/Band Database and the referring doctors database in the Database section of the group.) I have a few ideas, though: The CappsKids website had a listing for state contact of a parent in Mississippi if anyone needs help in that state concerning plagiocephaly http://www.cappskids.org/MississippiState.htm Why don't you try and email this person to see if she can offer some help? I don't know if you are already a member or not, but there is a Torticollis group here at that might be able to give you some references in your area Torticolliskids/ Also, most major hospitals have a department that assesses plagiocephaly and tort. I'm not sure which department assesses tort, but plagiocephaly is usually evaluated in the craniofacial, pediatric neurosurgery, or plastic surgery department. I googled everything I could think of, but couldn't find any specific mention of plagiocephaly connected to a hospital in Miss, so you may need to call around for that information! Sometimes is easier to work backwards from an orthotics facility, and get an evaluation as well as a recommendation for a specialist from there. Although we don't have any locations in MS listed here at the site, there are a few places you can check out: Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc. 15 River Bend Place Suite B , MS 39232 US (601) 939-2100 www.hanger.com (I called and they have 2 practioners who do cranial banding - I have no idea of the level of experience or what brand of helmet they use!) Orthomerica Starband locations that might be in Mississippi Here is a picture of their band: http://www.orthomerica.com/products/cranial/starband.htm Here is how you find out from them if there is a practitioner offering the Starband near you from their website: You may also contact Orthomerica's Customer Service department at custserv@.... Please include your city and state in the email message, and a customer service representative at Orthomerica will respond with a list of orthotists in your area who currently provide Orthomerica's cranial remolding orthoses. Cranial Tech's DOCband clinic locations (although they appear to be a fair distance away, you can check into travelling for treatment as an option): http://www.cranialtech.com/ClinicLocations/index.html Where are you located in Mississippi? Are you close enough to the state line to consider travelling to another state for a specialist or orthoses? Please take a look at our Database section at the Helmet/Band Database as well as the physician database to see if any neighboring states have any options that might work out for you. I'm sorry I didn't have any more definite information. We could sure use some additional info for the state of Mississippi. Would you let us know what you find out, so that we can add any new info you come across to our information here at the site?
