Guest guest
Hi- I tried posting an update the other night, but somehow it was lost. After I posted about the first pediatrician telling us that our son, , had to have blood drawn through his testicles (and it cost $12,000 and the insurance wouldn't pay), we went to another pediatrician. I realized the first Dr didn't even pick up. All he did was look in his eyes, his ears and listen to his heart while he was on my lap. My husband wants me to ask him where he got his information and then proceed from there as to whether we would report him or not. I just cannot fathom the reason for him giving us this kind of information. Why would he try to imtimidate us into not doing the test? Any ideas? The next Dr did a thorough exam and said that he thinks that he is just behind developmentally. He suggested having early intervention come and assess him and then we could go from there. That night, I started thinking if the 2nd dr could request an additional test on the blood that the first dr had drawn, then maybe we could find some real answers. So, I called the 2nd dr the next day and they called the Mayo clinic (where the blood was sent for a simple karotype which the first dr had requested) and asked that they perform the MDS test. So, my first question is...will the Mayo clinic know exactly how many cells to perform the test on? How long does it take to get this back? They made the request on Sept 9th. I hope all of this makes sense as it is very late and I should be in bed. Thanks again and I'm thankful that everyone is safe after the storm.
