On Health Care Reform

For all those who are under Medi-Cal Managed Care/HMO we need for the insurance

companies to have less power over the doctors so the doctors have more freedom

to care for their patients instead of being controlled by the insurance

companies. Doctors who pratice under this system do not have the freedom to

spend enough time with each patient therefore these patients are getting sub-par

treatment. The patients under this system of healthcare should have a right to

go see whatever doctor or specialist is needed without having to wait up to a

month for a referal. And if a doctor or special is not contracted through

Medi-Cal then the patient can not see that doctor. Unfortunately, most of the

doctors contacted through Medi-Cal are so overworked and booked that as a

patient you feel like your in a cattle call line. They literally only have five

to ten minutes per patient. The more patients they can squeeze in the more money

they will make.

We also need to start policing the Pharmaceutical Companies more. Doctors should

not be allowed to get monitary compensation from any drug maker just because

that doctor decides to try out a specific drug on their patients. We are not

guinea pigs.

Holistic, preventative, natural remedies and alternative medicine should be a

number one priority for everyone when ever possible. More money and funding

should be put into these medicines and research.

We need to remove all conventional drug advertisements from television. In my

opinion they are just legalized drug pushers! And what angers me the most is

that the FDA and CDC are not doing their jobs protecting people. To allow a drug

on the market where the side effects are worse than what you would be taking the

drug for or when one of the side effects is potential death then there is a

major problem! Conflict of interests runs rampid in this industry and it's

killing people!

I believe everyone's healthcare should be the same. Everyone deserves equal

treatment. One insurance should not mean better treatment over another type of

insurance but this is happening every day.

I have been unable to get correct treatments or see doctors that specialize in

my illness for the past six years now because Medi-Cal doesn't cover the

specific specialist I need nor does it cover the specific tests or treatments I

need so even though I have insurance it does me no good.

Bottom line:

1. Take away power from the Pharmaceutical companies. They should not be running

or controlling our healthcare system. It's a major conflict of interest.

2. All insurance should be equal! Insurance companies should not be telling the

doctors what test or treatments their patients need or don't need.

3. Clean up the FDA, the CDC and the ACOEM!

4. Focus more on holistic, preventative, alternative and natural medicines!
