KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP -- Even running 12 hours a day, the kitchen

stove's gas oven is no match for the cold and winter winds that

rattle the window panes of Lloyd 's century-old house near Lake

Street.

But the stove and a few space heaters are all 's got to keep

warm since his furnace was damaged in a September flood that swamped

his neighborhood.

, 61, can't hide the exasperation in his voice as he describes

the ordeal his family has endured.Â

" I worry about the kids all the time. I worry what I'm going to do

the next day to keep them warm, " he said. " It's just one worry on top

of another worry.

" I don't know how to take care of it. I don't know the answer for it. "
