Guest guest
I have yet to recieve the minutes from our PPT last wednesday. Does anyone know when I am supposed to recieve them? Is there a time limit? The meeting was for 6 hours, and there were lots of recommendations so they said they were going to review it to make sure they had everything. Now I think they are " fixing " it. I may be wrong but I lost trust in them a long time ago. Are there any rules for this? Bonnie
Guest guest
When I got my first cold/flu/yuck after being diagnosed, I saw those warnings, too. I now use sugar free cough drops (Ricola brand green tea flavor, but lots of brands/flavors available). As for decongestants, the doctor said " that warning is CYA. Take one of whatever you used to take, and see how it affects you " . That's the story of most of our journey's with this disease. Take one and see how it affects you. I still take the same meds (combination Pseudoephedrine (take that, IOC!!) and guaifenisen). Works like a charm. Guest guest
The following excellent comparison of decongestants vs. antihistamines is from " Audio Health Library " ... http://www.yourhealth.com/ahl/2002.html What decongestant and anti-histamine medications do for the body are often confused or thought to be the same. Although the effects of these two medications are similar in some ways, they are not the same and do not act the same way on the body. Decongestants have a very specific purpose to relieve nasal congestion. They do this by causing the blood vessels in the nasal membranes to narrow. This reduces swelling, inflammation and the amount of mucus produced by the nasal lining. Decongestants are most often used to treat colds and other upper respiratory infections, especially in people who easily develop middle-ear or sinus infections. Two common brand-name decongestants are Sudafed and Neo-Synephrine Anti-histamines have a much broader use than decongestants. Although they are sometimes used in cough and cold remedies together with a decongestant, they are more often used to treat symptoms of allergic reactions, most commonly: the sneezing and runny nose of hay fever, and the itching, swelling and redness of hives and other allergic rashes. Anti-histamines are also used to calm a person and help him or her sleep, and to suppress vomiting. Anti-histamines work by blocking the effect of a chemical produced by the body in response to an allergic reaction. This chemical histamine makes small blood vessels in the skin, eyes and nose, widen, causing redness and swelling. Two common brand name anti-histamines are Benadryl and Chlor-Trimeton. Both decongestants and anti-histamines have some negative side effects. If decongestants are used for too long, they cause nasal congestion to worsen. Also, decongestants are not recommended for people with: heart disease, high blood pressure, glaucoma, thyroid disease, urinary retention problems, or certain people with asthma or diabetes. This is because decongestants lead to constriction of blood vessels, which could cause complications in the conditions just mentioned. Anti-histamines cause drowsiness and dizziness, and may cause loss of appetite, blurred vision and dry mouth. They are not recommended for people with: glaucoma, an enlarged prostate, high blood pressure, or for persons who are taking anti-depressant, sedative, hypnotic or tranquilizer medications. This is because anti-histamines tend to enhance the effects of certain medications people may be taking, or cause complications of these disorders. For example, anti-histamines may cause an increased sedative effect for someone already taking a sedative. Both decongestants and anti-histamines can be purchased over-the-counter or be obtained with a doctor's prescription. However, pregnant women should consult their doctor before taking any over-the-counter medication. Other people, including those with medical conditions are advised to read product labels carefully and consult a pharmacist if they have questions about use. Guest guest
The week 1 book is a guide. Any time you have the direct nutritional information, it overrides the book. So if your slide rule said 1 point, count it as 1. :-) Lyn Question Hi! I just started today so this may be a stupid question, but about the points...I had 1/2 cup of spaghetti sauce tonight with dinner - in my Week 1 book, it says that's 2 pts., but with using that slide calculator thingy and the label on the jar, it's 1pt. It's also Healthy Choice - maybe that makes a difference? So...do I use the book or that slide calculator?? Thanks for clarifying! I was happy to wake up to lots of messages so I hope that means the mail is moving faster. Anyway.... regarding your question.... I would use the points you calculated from the label. I would think that WW uses an averaging method for items like spaghetti sauce that can have a variety of points. I always use the labels for calculating!! Hope that helps! Guest guest
Geeze, I don't think any of us felt much like posting last week but I do think we need to get back into some sort of normalcy, as much as possible. I love how the country is reviving their patriotism and their faith in God, and hope and pray that continues. But the show must go on..... and I know that doing WW is sometimes the only thing I feel I can control in my life. Hugs, Connie Re: Question Hi Amy, Welcome!!! I love this group already. The points in the book are an average value. Some brands/recipes will be higher in points; some will be lower. If you have the label and calculate points, that's the best bet. If you have the (shoot, can't think of the name of it...Complete Food Companion?) and can look up the points for that brand, that's not perfect (they may have changed recipes, for example)but it's more exact than the generic value. ===== -- Wren-Moyer mwrenmoyer@..., mwrenmoyer@... __________________________________________________ Terrorist Attacks on U.S. - How can you help? Guest guest
Hi MS. Domestic Goddess! Sorry, but you didn't give your name. I'm and want to say welcome to our group. I know for sure that it is possible to conceive with one tube and one ovary. It may lower your chances a little but it is definitely not impossible. If that is your dream then don't let anything hold you back! Dr. Levin is a very capable Dr. and I'm sure he'd be happy to talk to you at length about this. You should set up a consult with him if your seriously considering TR. Just remember, you can do anything if you want to bad enough! Good Luck to You! What's your name? Guest guest
No problem - and I'm with you! Weight lifting does incredible things. I have never lifted seriously until now - I prefer cardio - but I tell ya after 1 month of lifting I am seeing results that I never thought I'd see. I'm a convert! I lost a full inch off of my thighs in ONE WEEK. Can't beat that! And I love the toned look I'm starting to get. Of course I still have about 25 pounds to go but, the differences are incredible. I count each day, because I do often do two workouts - but I also started earlier - so maybe you should count each workout until you catch up, then go day by day - that why you'll get you 100 work outs in! Guest guest
Three years ago I was lifting weights twice a week -- heavy weights. You can see my before and after pics in the "Files" section at yahoogroups. I had been doing Tae Bo for almost 3 years but the weights totally changed the shape of my body. I loved and it wish I hadn't stopped. But I'm pumped about getting back to it now! :-) I think I'll take your advice and count individual workouts until I catch up with everyone and then count each day. Thanks again Chris! Guest guest
I think it's the stress and the lack of FOOD! How many times have I gotta tellya to EAT? Your body and your BRAIN need FOOD to function properly, with MS you've already got a built-in stumbling block, and if you deprive your Brain of Needed Nutrients...well... Love ya sis! How'd the trick-or-treating go? Hugz!~*~Akiba~*~ Question Either I am getting incredibly stupid as the days go on or incredibly forgetful. In the past three weeks, I have lost my wallet, lost my jacket, lost my brush and comb, misplaced the car payment money, opened a gallon of milk when I already had one opened, misread the expiration date on a jar of mayonnaise and threw it away, and called my dad to see what time he was coming down to remember that we had already talked about that in the morning, among other miscellaneous things. I am getting just a tad bit terrified that I am starting down the road of a new exacerbation. I have been doing really well and I chalked up the foggy mind syndrome to lack of sleep, lack of food LOL, and a touch of stress but I am still a little nervous about it. I don't know whether or not to call the doctor or give it time. I missed three appointments recently but they weren't for anything important and I have one today, with the nephrologist, that I plan to miss too. So the question is, does this sound like it could be the start of a relapse? Yahoo! FareChase - Search multiple travel sites in one click. Guest guest
Not more than I wanted to know at all. I'm so sorry for all the problems you're having. I've not experienced the problem with the leg/foot, but I've sure heard of it from plenty of MSers. You know one of us will ask, so I'll go ahead. LOL Are you keeping record of this? Writing is hard for you, so maybe printing or just saving these emails?? This is a lot going on. I hope it eases up very soon, Trista. Hugs, Challis Hi Challis. The lump is there, but a little smaller and it is now a silver dollar sized bruise under the skin. I know I didn't bump it on anything. ??? As for the pain, my hands and arms are still giving me a lot of trouble. It used to be that only my left arm hurt, but now my right does too. The worst part is that it makes it hard to hold the baby. The numbness is so bad at times, I'm scared of picking him up. I can't feel my fingers. I've been taking vicodin for pain, but it doesn't touch the nerve stuff. It's funny, I seem to "trade" sx's. One thing will stop and another will start. My vision is fine now. Yesterday I noticed a new thing for me. I was shopping and noticed that my left leg didn't want to work. I felt like I was just dragging it along with me everywhere I went. I'm chugging along though. No choice but to keep on keepin' on. Probably more than you wanted to know, but there it is! Thanks for asking. How are you feeling lately? Take care, Trista
Guest guest
Hang in there, Trista, love to you and baby, n Re: Question {{{{{{{{Trista}}}}}}}} How are you doing the past few days? What's going on with the pain and the lump?? Hugs, Challis Good morning all.I have been in pain the last few days, so haven't been posting much. My arms and hands are killing me. I can hardly use my hands for anything. They ache and feel "cramped". This morning I woke up to a painful lump on my left forearm. It feels about the size of a quarter and very sore. I pushed on it and it seemed to "pop" back into place. I can still feel it, but it's not as big anymore. Anyone experience this? Is it a tendon, a muscle? I haven't done anything to injure my arm. Could it be MS related or something else? Go figure, I actually have a sx that a Dr. can "see" and it's the day before Thanksgiving, so I can't go in. No more typing for me. These stinking hands just won't work.
