That is one might be replaced only, the heater, to solve the problem. But if they let it go on for a long, long time, and they do not have copper pipes, then replacing the pipes should be considered, upgrading them to copper, as the inside of the metal pipes corrodes, allowing lots of spaces for germs to grow in, out of the flow of the water. When the water flows, the most recent growth is scraped off into the water, and out the tap and the smell enters the bathroom, kitchen, shower, etc. >That's not the worst of their problems. It could be the stairs are too much for them? Consider the sulphur burning treatment? But first they have to be tested for sulphur sensitivity. My sulphur detox pathways were overwhelmed by the sewer gas here (That's how I learned of this, first hand), and I had to stop eating eggs, garlic, onions, and other sulphur containing foods. Ugh. I'm eating eggs again, and tested an onion, starting 4 weeks ago. The hot water heater here was replaced 5 weeks ago. >Fortunately, she's recovering, but sleeping a lot. The immune system is detoxing her body. She ought to consider low impact aerobics to increase circulation and drinking more water to flush the toxins. The water flushing will reduce her sleep hours per day. The aerobics or just walking 30-50 minutes a day, divide that into 3 10 minutes walks if you want, will increase her sleep hours, initially, and then decrease it as the toxins are mostly out of her body. >It's such a shame >because at their ages, they were in better shape than I am. Do the basement, the stairway, the room outside the basement door, their bedroom, the bathroom, the kitchen, and one outside for a baseline (very important). Yes, it will cost $200, but the comparision of all the dish results will be very convincing to them. >'ve asked them to >get professional cleaners, but they resist. Maybe now they will. There is a group of pros, they come to your home 8 at a time, and for 12 hours they clean EVERY room, in just one day. They move everything, and clean every surface, including all possessions. The elderly have a well known habit of leaving critical maintenance left undone, for years, and they handle it by " avoiding " the area, so they do not get sick. Then when they open the door, they get real sick, in minutes, or seconds, and can die. It happens a lot. Books are written about this syndrome. Young people moving into their dream home, vacated by the death of the elderly couple living there, and the young people get real sick. Well, this list I do not have to go on. Find some newspaper stories in the local online papers in their area, papers they read, that are about this situation. I did that with my Mom, and it takes about 5-12 such articles before they believe, and act. But it does happen. Worth my time to keep my Mother around a little bit longer. Good luck.
