Guest guest
Hi great LBD caregivers, Finally, I am back. I had told Time Warner to turn off my service as I was moving. Well, I didn't move after all. All my children voted against the move. I called Time Warner back and told them to reinstate the service, all within three days. I thought they did, but two weeks later they shut it all off. So today, I got them to turn it on. So here I am enjoy me! oh brother, don't notice Imogene, she is half nuts herself. Never mind my husband's illness. I take the cake today. But, mind you just today. My daughter took me up to see my beloved Don yesterday. I do talk to him every day on the phone. He is one sick man. He is so scrambled he talks out of his head most of the time. He can still walk, just barely, but he walks the halls and keeps what he has going. He is skin and bones, and of course stooped over. He wanted a hamburger, so we took him to get a hamburger yesterday, and he loved it. It was a small one. I had to hold his hand every step he took, and help him get over the curb, etc. Trying to dress him is a job in itself. He can't lift his feet high enough to put on pants, I mean three inches, so I got down and lifted them for him. I know, I could have had him sit, but getting him up is worse. He so badly wanted to come home, but I told him he has a whole staff taking care of him. They cook for him, (delicious meals) bathe and shave him, and give him a hair cut. They wash his clothes and change his bedclothes for him. Help him dress, and there is a nurse right there for him 24/7, one of them being his daughter. I took him some warm-ups so that he could stand the cold NH. It's kept at 72 degrees. He seemed more acclimated yesterday. When told me that all the kids voted for me not to get an apartment, Don chimed right in and agreed with them. I had told him many times that was taking care of me, and he felt very comfortable with that. Seeing her made it sink in that I was being cared for. He didn't beg to come home either. So he is finally accepting his new home. But, hurt! I cried most of the 70 miles home, and I am sure he has done a lot of it too. This is all very hard. I have really been sick today. I always get sick when I go up there. I then wonder how sick I would be if Don were home? Nope! I can't take that kind of work anymore. Anyway, dear friends, I am glad to be back with you. It's so good to have all of my dear friends on the List. I like the computer very much so. But, most of all I like this List. There has been a tremendous amount of knowledge shared here, thanks to Donna and , and all of the rest of you. You are so loving and kind, and have so much warmth. Yes, you are special indeed. What is the latest? Pearl. Dear one I am so sorry to read of your loss, and Dear , The same goes for you. I just skimmed one page, so I don't know what else has happened. But, as a group I share you grief, and your moments of laughter. Hurricane Ike, has really done a number on Texas and Louisiana. I feel so bad for those folks. I understand you are all right Piper, and am glad to hear that. Who else? I don't know at this point. If you are reading this then know I feel for you, and every one of the victims of this vicious storm. Guest guest
If you are talking to me, Donna, Then yes, I missed Ike by 150 miles. I was/am on the West side of the hurricane, which doesn't do much damage nor spread out very far. The East side of the hurricane (or the right side) got the brunt of it. We didn't even get any rain from it and we needed it badly. I'm on the List and raring to go, well almost. My get up and go is waning. Too much lead in the posterior. I love you Donna, and dear I am glad to be back too, Imogene In a message dated 9/17/2008 1:24:19 AM Central Daylight Time, twomido@... writes: So glad to see a message from you, You would have to get turned off right in the middle of Ike..... I thought maybe you got washed away and am glad to hear you must not be in trouble from Ike at all. For all it hit, you sound like you maybe live in the next state. I though it hit most of Texas. Anyway glad you are alright and are back with us. Lots of hugs to Don. Donna R Caregave for Mom (after I brought her from WI to MI) for 3 years and 4th year in a nh. She was almost 89 when she died in '02. No dx other than mine. **************Psssst...Have you heard the news? Guest guest
Oh my dear Norma, it is an adjustment for both of us. And it is hard, but I don't want him home anymore. I couldn't take it now. He is fussing with his room mate tooth and nail. He yelled at him and the nurse yesterday to " shut up " and told me he wanted to get a club and club the man, then said he was of a good mind to punch him in the face. He was argumentative at home, and I worked very hard to keep and even keel, yet, I miss him terribly. I want him here. We can't win when we start getting old. But, I am going to be happy. I refuse to let it all get me down, otherwise I would cry all the time. If I cry half the time, it's only half as bad. (right now I'm smiling.) Take care dear Norma, Love with all your heart, it makes you stronger, and Love a lot, Imogene In a message dated 9/17/2008 7:16:47 AM Central Daylight Time, Normal@... writes: Imogene, I'm sad to hear what you're going through. I'm also happy to hear that Don is a bit more comfortable. My heart goes out to you. Sending you both love. **************Psssst...Have you heard the news?
