Air conditioners

LG Electronics' residential air conditioners have consecutively

ranked first in terms of world sales since 2000. The company's

latest Neo Plasma Plus Ion air-conditioners combine an advanced

plasma filter, ioniser and auto clean features.

The five-layer filter helps remove microscopic contaminants and dust

plus house mites, pollen and pet dander from the air to help allergy

and asthma sufferers. The sterilised ion generating system is said

to trap hazardous substances in the air and neutralise harmful

particles by emitting three times more ion. This helps prevent

moulds, germs and allergens.

The main cause of air conditioner odour is the mould that grows in

the heat exchanger. When the air conditioner is turned off, moisture

remains in the heat exchanger, allowing mould and bacteria to grow.

LG Electronics' Art Cool range of air conditioners double as wall-

mounted picture or photo frames with removable front panels.

When the auto clean function is activated, an automatic cleaning

process begins after the cooling operation where soft air dries the

evaporator and removes accumulated condensation, the source of

mould. This year, the British Allergy Foundation gave its seal of

approval to the Neo Plasma Plus air conditioner for its allergen-

reducing properties.

Refrigerators

LG DA's latest refrigerators have a VitaLight feature which uses an

interior LED light, believed to induce photosynthesis in vegetables

to keep them fresh and allow them to be stored longer. A special air

circulation method that flows from the front of the unit by

circulating it through the door also helps create a consistent

interior temperature. Its cooling system also works to generate

negative ions that kill food-spoiling bacteria and fungi to help

preserve freshness in food. This technology uses green catechin, the

same organic compound that gives green tea its anti-oxidant

properties.
