Hi all,

I have been using Vani-cream, but wonder if there is a better option

regarding absorption and ingredients.

Val,

A year ago when I stopped the WP amts of E and P, my periods stopped

too. Last yr. my endometrium was thick (can remember the exact #) so my

Gyn did an endometrial Biopsy that turned out " Normal " . Then, I reduced

my E some more . I just had an US done last week, so I will know better

when I get the results. I have been afraid to stop the P completely, I

use about 30mg for 14 days.

You might want to read my post #17074 about PCCA's study of four base

creams (one is Vanicream), and the posts that follow with the same

subject heading.

Virginia, Thank you. I'll look for that post.

Val,

Is that true for the cream only or all forms of P?

Here's more on transdermal P not preventing hyperplasia:Transdermal natural progesterone cream for postmenopausal women: Inconsistent data and complex pharmacokinetics.

Elshafie MA, Ewies AA.

Faculty of Health Wellbeing & Science University Campus of Suffolk, UK.

Transdermal progesterone cream (PC) is propagated as a possible alternative to hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in the management of menopausal symptoms and treatment of osteoporosis. Nonetheless, considerable concerns were raised regarding the inconsistent results and the credibility of some studies that were not peer-reviewed. Further, the complex nature and diversity of the pharmacokinetics of progesterone led to difficult interpretation of the findings. Given the current best available evidence, using PC for postmenopausal therapy regimens should be considered as an unsubstantiated treatment option, and its clinical applications must be restricted to well-designed interventional trials that assess its efficacy and safety.

Micronised transdermal progesterone and endometrial response.

Wren BG, McFarland K, L.

Sequential transdermal progesterone administered with continuous transdermal oestrogen was insufficient to increase circulating blood progesterone concentrations or induce a secretory response in proliferating endometrium.> > >> > > Is your progesterone cream protecting your endometrium?> > > > > > Val> > > > > > -----Original Message-----> > > From: rhythmicliving > > [mailto:rhythmicliving ]> > > On Behalf Of mbmail07> > > > > > Hi all,> > > > > > I have been using Vani-cream, but wonder if there is a better > option > > > regarding absorption and ingredients.> > > > > > Mar> > >> > > > > > > > ------------------------------------> > > > click here for our webpage http://rhythmicliving.com/> > > > **The group conversation is informational in nature and is not > intended as> > medical advice.**

I have used cyclogest for multiple cycles and crinone for one cycle.

Cyclogest comes in 200 mg/supp and 400 mg/supp. You will need to cut

it to get a reasonable dose. I use a gram scale to measure. My dose

has been between 30-50 mg/day for 10-12 day. Use at bedtime; in the

morning it drips out when using the restroom. There is no icky residue.

Crinone comes in 4% and 8% per applicator. Vliet recommends 4%. I

bought 8% and split it in half per application (probably not

recommended by manufacturer). In House Pharmacy sells Crinone 8%.

You use Crinone every other day for six doses. It sticks to the

vaginal wall and does not drip out. Here is what the manufacturer says:

" Will I experience any discharge?

Typically the gel stays attached to the vaginal walls as the medicine

absorbs. Do not be concerned if small, white globules appear as a

discharge after several days of usage. It is common, and not harmful,

to have some gel residue buildup. Gel accumulation may be less likely

to occur if the gel is applied in the morning because activities like

walking may help spread the gel on the vaginal walls. If gel

accumulation becomes bothersome, talk to your doctor. "

So instead of dripping out, white globules accumulate in your vagina.

It reminded me of a yeast infection! It was disgusting. The

manufacturer says that you can manually remove the white globules.

That works but I finally just did a light douche to remove the

residue. I did not know I had buildup until after I had sex with my

husband and it was everywhere-yuck--sorry.

I was pretty grossed out by the crinone BUT I think it worked better

than the cyclogest. I tend to get spotting with cyclogest but I got

no spotting with the crinone. I think the crinone gave me a more even

progesterone level and I had less progesterone excess side effects

with the crinone than the cyclogest. I am going to try the crinone

again to make sure that my observations are correct. Next time I use

it I am going to manually remove any globules every morning in the

shower so that I do not get the larger amount of buildup that grossed

me out.

Val,

Thank you for the links. I'll visit them!

Kathy,

I like to hear details, not matter how yucky they are, as they

prepare me better if I decide to try it. For some reason, I can't

picture the looks or the feel of the white globules. It doesn't sound

pleasant. Anyway, let me know how the next month goes. Thanks.
