Guest guest
Hello, A former patient (73yo) contacted me today to tell me that two weeks ago she became deaf in one ear quite suddenly. She has just been to see an ENT specialist who says that her tympanic membrane is fine and all other tests for hearing have shown nothing. She was given four likely causes (a virus, a blood clot, an autoimmune response, and some damage to the membrane in the inner ear) and was prescribed prednisone (40 mg for 10 days) in the hope that there will be improvement. Several years ago she became bald due to what they think was an unknown autoimmune illness, has suffered with insomnia most of her life and has tinnitus in her other ear. Beyond this she is in relatively good health and eats well in spite of a stressful lifestyle. Has anyone run into a situation like this? Thanks in advance, Kerry -- Kerry Hackett, MNIMH, AHG, OHA Medical Herbalist www.kerryhackett.ca
