FDA says it's unable to regulate BPA

It seems our current government has unlimited power. They can bail out companies or destroy them with a single stroke of their pen. Take over our healthcare system, no problem. Regulate C02, consider it done. But ban BPA from baby products, now that's a problem.

Although the FDA recently reversed their opinion on the chemical now declaring it "most likely" unsafe they claim their powerless to ban the chemical. The FDA says because BPA was classified years ago as an indirect food additive, it is not subject to the kind of scrutiny that other chemicals are. Without critical data about BPA, it is impossible to regulate the chemical, officials said.

Patients in England and Wales Denied Arthritis Drug

An arthritis drug (Tocilizumab) that helps many users will not be available to those residing in England because the government had decided the drug is not "cost effective."

The drug has been described as "life changing" because it can be taken after other medications have failed, a common problem in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Patients groups last night said that denying the medication to tens of thousands of patients with the crippling condition in one part of the country was "cruel".

As we reported last week drug giant and currently has it's hand full with a embarrassing recall of it's over the counter products. But now also finds itself in a much more sinister situation.

According to a complaint filed Friday by the office of the United States attorney in Boston, & paid kickbacks to the nation's largest nursing home pharmacy to increase the number of elderly patients taking the antipsychotic Risperdal and several other medications. "Kickbacks in the nursing home pharmacy context are particularly nefarious," Carmen M. Ortiz, the United States attorney for Massachusetts, said in a statement . "Nursing home residents comprise a vulnerable population that should be able to trust that their physician's advice is based on medical expertise, not financial self-interest."

How Factory Farms Are Pumping Americans Full of Deadly Bacteria and Pathogens

Factory farms produce 99 percent of the meat, dairy and eggs we eat. Not only are dangerous flu viruses mutating because of these concentrated animal feeding operations , but we are also being exposed to some other very serious bacteria and pathogens.

When medical researchers took more than 1,000 food samples from multiple retail markets, they found evidence of fecal contamination in 69 percent of the pork and beef and 92 percent of the poultry samples. Nine out of 10 chicken carcasses in the store may be contaminated with fecal matter. And half of the poultry samples were contaminated with the UTI-causing E. coli bacteria.

Cross contamination is thought to account for the bulk of infections. For example, chicken carcasses are so covered in bacteria that researchers at the University of Arizona found more fecal bacteria in the kitchen - on sponges and dish towels, and in the sink drain - than they found swabbing the toilet.
