Guest guest
Kim, Congratulations! Yours sound like a posting I made a few months ago! I am currently 14 weeks pregnant and10 months post-op. I have just made it through the horrible morning (all day and night rather) sickness period and am feeling pretty good most days. Your story is a little different because you are much closer to your surgery than I was, so you haven’t had as much time to heal up inside. Like yourself, I would have horrible heaves but nothing would come up. I talked to my surgeon who didn’t think I would hurt anything if I did throw up, that made me feel a little better since I was so worried about hurting something inside. Have you talked to your surgeon? The best I could ever throw up was mostly liquid (like the water I just drank), what I found (and this is a little gross) is that I would be able to heave a little out of my stomach, but then it would sit in my E since peristalsis works in both directions – so the E is not pushing food back up either! I would basically heave and gag….not fun! My nausea was much, much worse this time than when I was pregnant with my 4 year old. My OBGYN started giving me weekly injections of Vitamin B, which helped a lot….maybe see if your doctor would be willing to look into that, it just took the edge off the nausea a bit and got me through those tough weeks. Good luck to you! I hope that you are able to enjoy some Christmas goodies - my Christmas dinner last year was creamed soup and sips of Ensure! I’m looking forward to eating what I please….accompanied of course by a couple gallons of water!!! All the best, Santa Cruz, CA merry christmas to all HI everyone, It has been a while since I have posted here, But I still do often look in to see how things are going with all of you. Just an update from me, I am now 2 months pregnant and almost 4 months post surgery. Things are going pretty well. Having morning sickness, and I haven't been able to physically throw up. I dry reach alot and can throw up white foam, but that is it. I get the odd pulling pain around my surgical sites. But other than that things are going pretty well. I had been hoping to eat all I could this christmas, but no I can't stand the sight of food at all. If it's not one thing it's the other. Mike and I are very excited, will keep you all updated, any words of wisdom would be appreciated. Has any else out there suffered from morning sickness and not been able to throw up. I think I would feel much better some days if I could. Peace and Love to you all this Christmas You are always in my thoughts and prayers. Guest guest
Congrats on the baby, Kim! I would consult your OB healthcare provider for suggestions on dealing with nausea -- he/she probably has an entire list of things to try (the ones that come to mind right off the bat are ginger, lemon, and frequent small meals.) I only had it for a couple weeks; a friend was throwing up the entire 40 weeks with both of her kids! Everyone seems to have a different reaction. I hope that you find some relief soon, one way or the other! And congrats again!Debbi in Michigan
Guest guest
HI Thank you so much for all your advice, I will definately speak to my doctor about alternatives if things don't start to subside soon. However today is better than yesterday, so fingers crossed! Please stay in touch and let me know how things are going with you. Guest guest
How wonderful that you are having a baby Kim. Congratulations to you both!. I had my surgery four years ago, myotomy and Dor Funduplication and the Surgeon told me at that time that my "throwing up" days were over as I would no longer be able to do that. Something to do with the sphincter being severed and therefore the throwing up action is no longer possible. I have not thrown up since I had the surgery, and I know that is an awful feeling when sometimes throwing up is the only thing that makes you feel better. But you are well on your way now Kim and I hope and pray that the nausea will soon pass. Hope you have a very happy Christmas and a great 2004! Guest guest
Althea, I'm happy to hear that your mom is doing better and can get around on the scooter. I also left home when I was young, just 17. I'm so glad I grew up for now my mom and I are inseparable. I'm glad to hear that your surgery was a success and that the remicade works so well for you. Can you rest after your infusion so that you're not so tired driving home? a > Hi all!
