Is there a way one can get hold of statistics that show the rate of death per

1000 of prescription drugs in the UK, compared to the rate of deaths per 1000

due to western herbs in the UK?

HiDeaths from drugs - lotsDeaths from herbs - noneThat is a brief summary :-) and probably not far off! There is little information about deaths from prescribed drugs, partly because of a lack of desire to look or to add up.In the US people mention figures of between 100k to 750k death per year from drugs. Look here http://www.ourdailymedsthebook.com/ to see one source. The UK population is roughly 1/5 th of the US so you can calculate estimates for here.Certainly drug problems are under-reported, under-estimated and far in excess of any risk from herbs.RegardsDr GascoigneMedical doctor, acupuncturist, herbalistClinics in Bath & Tetbury, UKTel: +44 (0) 79 88 05 92 01Also, Bandon, Co. Re: statistics:

The statistics for deaths from prescribed drugs is estimated to be somewhere between the 4th and 6th major cause of all deaths.

I have not seen any equivalent statistics for deaths from prescribed herbal medicines -- but they will be insignificant.

It seems the figures are hard to come by. It's not straightforward as this link shows: http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/statistics_on_iatrogenic_deaths Helen From: Potterton

I thought it was quite telling that when Israeli doctors went on strike, death

rates went down ...

It's a couple of years ago now, but it made our news, back then.
