Guest guest
Hya, I have had quite good results with stopping heavy or continuous menstrual bleeding in the past, but seem to be not doing so well lately. Current patient has had episodes of continuous heavy bleeding in the last two years. On occasions this has lasted a month and left her anaemic. On several occasions she has been prescribed a progesterone pill (usually for 9/10days)which stops bleeding immediately. Usually the period immediately after is Ok but painful and then the following one is very heavy and doesn't stop though there was a duration of a couple of months during the summer with no period. A consultant in South America diagnosed endometriosis, but this has not been confirmed in the UK.. Patient is in her thirties. Has recently successfully stopped taking sleeping tablets after years and years , and over time reduced rx amplodine to minimal dose and we are on the verge of negotiating to come off that altogether. Contracted a significant parasite infection the summer before last which precipitated (I think) an episode of B12 deficiency. There is always a complicated picture and am not sure if am seeing wood or trees... Currently - bled for a month in October. took progesterone. Managed pain of next period in December quite successfully. Started bleeding 20 days later. Now we are 10 days in and she still is without any sign of stopping. Obviously have rx large amounts of capsella , trillium, achillia etc. This week with aesculus. plus usual liver support. One collegue swears by very large doses of vitex , and we have tried this as well. Stopped giving astringents as alcohol but has been taking as very strong tea... We are talking about when to rest and re-group - i.e. when to consider the progesterone pill - but clearly this is an inadequate/ inappropriate long term solution. She has been offered the marina coil - I know some women have found this a great solution while many others have found it worse than dreadful. My suspicion is that she would fall in the latter catergory. But for now any suggestions to stop the bleeding? son BSc(hons) MNIMH@...www.herbalbarge.co.ukwww.herbalsnuff.co.uk07736966197 -----

Guest guest
I've always had good results using long term treatment including alchemilla, lamium album, achillea and urtica. I don't generally need to use trillium or capsella except in initial stages. this has worked on all cases I've been presented with so far except one who wasn't really comp[liant.. Also anthocyanidin containing stuff like crataegus and vaccinium berries. good luck Sally > Thank you both - have been giving freshly juiced nettle cubes from > freezer - but good remeinder to stay on top of that vicious circle.. > > melissa > > > son BSc(hons) MNIMH > @... > www.herbalbarge.co.uk > www.herbalsnuff.co.uk > 07736966197 > Re: Stopping bleeding >> >> >>> >>> >>>> But for now any suggestions to stop the bleeding? >>> >>> So anemia can cause bleeding - give iron tonics as well? >>> >>> Luck >>> H. >>> >>> -- >>> Henriette Kress, AHG Helsinki, Finland >>> Henriette's herbal homepage: http://www.henriettesherbal.com >>> New book: http://www.henriettesherbal.com/articles/pract-herbs.html >>> >>> >>> ------------------------------------ >>> >>> List Owner: Graham White, MNIMH
Guest guest
I also find long term Alchemilla (alongside other herbs depending on the individual) very good in these situations. Guest guest
Thank you - have been using all of these - but may be guilty of firefighting rather than putting long term stratergies in place a while back - still bit confused why not making any impact. And had a patient before Christmas with different background (more thyroid picture) but similarly could not stop her bleeding... son BSc(hons) MNIMH@...www.herbalbarge.co.ukwww.herbalsnuff.co.uk07736966197 Re: Stopping bleeding>>>>>>> >>>>>>> But for now any suggestions to stop the bleeding?>>>>>> So anemia can cause bleeding - give iron tonics as well?>>>>>> Luck>>> H.>>>>>> -- >>> Henriette Kress, AHG Helsinki, Finland>>> Henriette's herbal homepage: http://www.henriettesherbal.com>>> New book: http://www.henriettesherbal.com/articles/pract-herbs.html>>>>>>>>> ------------------------------------>>>>>> List Owner: Graham White, MNIMH
Guest guest
Agree with all that is posted, particularly about anaemia causing heavy bleeding & heavy bleeding causing anaemia, so have to stop that cycle. But last year, I also had a very tricky case, that was quite unresponsive to all kinds of treatment, which are usually considered in management, that are normally effective. In her case, I ended up focusing on lymphatics & also included Rubus to aid hormones, as well as other astringent herbs & that did seem to set her on the path of recovery. She is still seeing me [9 months later] but is doing much better, although feel hers is a case that will need to be tweeked often, as she also has several fibroids. Something to consider, but as always, women's cycles are so individual, which is why we are so unique ;-) karen > > Hya, I have had quite good results with stopping heavy or continuous menstrual bleeding in the past, but seem to be not doing so well lately. > > Current patient has had episodes of continuous heavy bleeding in the last two years.
