Guest guest
i read something in the saturday telegraph ( I get it for the crossword honest!!) that the government are reducing funding for courses in CAM or something like that - I cant remember the exact details as the article was written by someone who thinks rthe sun shines out of ben goldacre so I was not really seeing clearly as I read it and Ive put the paper out for recycling now. maybe someone else read it as well? regards ,annette ps maybe some of the courses were undersubscribed as I know a lot of new graduates have been rather surprised by how hard it is to make a living and how long it takes to build a practice up which was apparently contrary to what they were led to believe when they started training. regards ,annette Herbal Training What is happening with the training of future herbalists?I'm not a conspiracy theorist (or maybe I am) but in the past 2 to 3 years there have been a lot of courses closed down:SSHM,Napier University,Central Lancashire,Leeds Metand now I hear that Lincoln is closing. What are we left with? - 3 universities in London.Have any new ones started up anywhere else? If/when we get SR we will need degree level courses for future herbalists, but having everything London-centric will make it difficult for those a long way from London to train. Guest guest
Reports of Lincoln's demise are premature. I'm admissions tutor and we are currently still accepting applications for this year. Numbers of applicants are not a problem and certainly at Lincoln, students are definitely informed that this is not an easy career in terms of financial rewards. Not sure that they all listen. And on the reasons for loss of courses - I love a good conspiracy theory as much as the next woman and it is quite likely that Colquhuon etc are having an effect, but you also have to note that these are small intake, expensive to run courses which do not get the extra funding that other clinical courses get. Given that universities are being told to reduce their intakes across the board, they are quite natural targets to be cut. regards, Robyn i read something in the saturday telegraph ( I get it for the crossword honest!!) that the government are reducing funding for courses in CAM or something like that - I cant remember the exact details as the article was written by someone who thinks rthe sun shines out of ben goldacre so I was not really seeing clearly as I read it and Ive put the paper out for recycling now. maybe someone else read it as well? regards ,annette ps maybe some of the courses were undersubscribed as I know a lot of new graduates have been rather surprised by how hard it is to make a living and how long it takes to build a practice up which was apparently contrary to what they were led to believe when they started training. regards ,annette Herbal Training What is happening with the training of future herbalists?I'm not a conspiracy theorist (or maybe I am) but in the past 2 to 3 years there have been a lot of courses closed down:SSHM,Napier University, Central Lancashire,Leeds Metand now I hear that Lincoln is closing. What are we left with? - 3 universities in London.Have any new ones started up anywhere else?
