Flu Vaccination Should Be Suspended For Healthy Children Under 5, Chief

Australia's Chief Medical

Officer, Professor Jim Bishop announced that after considering the results

to date of a comprehensive study into the safety of seasonal flu vaccine

for young children, he has advised, as a precaution, the suspension of

season flu vaccination for healthy children under the age of five

years.

Since the first reports of a

higher than usual occurrence of fever with convulsions in young children

following seasonal flu vaccination in WA in April, investigations

nationally have confirmed that a small number of children aged under five

across the country have experienced fever with convulsions in the 24 hours

after vaccination with the 2010 seasonal influenza vaccine.

While the expected febrile

convulsions rate should be 1 per 1,000 at the most, epidemiological

analyses point to a rate of febrile convulsions in children aged under five

years following 2010 seasonal influenza vaccination of about 9 per 1000

children vaccinated.

Meanwhile here in the United

States the governments tells us there are no serious side effects from

vaccinations.

Monsanto

sues Oakhurst Dairy over advertising

A dairy company is being sued

by Monsanto Co., which alleges that Oakhurst's marketing campaign that

touts its milk as being free of artificial growth hormones is

misleading.

The suit, filed in U.S.

District Court in Boston, demands that Oakhurst stop advertising that it

doesn't sell milk from hormone-treated cows. It also asks that the dairy

stop putting labels on its milk containers reading "Our Farmers' Pledge: No

Artificial Growth Hormones." Monsanto officials said Oakhurst's ads and

labels are deceptive and disparage Monsanto's products with the inference

that milk from untreated cows is better than milk from hormone-treated

cows.

Oakhurst President Stanley

II said his dairy sells milk without artificial growth hormones

because of consumer demands. Oakhurst about five years ago began buying

milk only from farms that pledge in writing that they won't use artificial

hormones. "On principle, it's also a question of free speech,"

said. "The world seems a little bit discombobulated when somebody attempts

to prohibit you from trying to do the right thing."

Increased

Risk Of Cancer With Blood Pressure Medications

Cardiologists have uncovered

new research showing an increased risk of cancer with a group of blood

pressure medications known as angiotensin-receptor blockers (ARBs). This

class of drugs is used by millions of patients not only for high blood

pressure but also for heart failure, cardiovascular risk reduction and

diabetic kidney disease.

We have found the risk of new

cancers was increased with these medications by 8-11 percent," said Dr.

Ilke Sipahi, associate director of heart failure and transplantation and

assistant professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

"Most importantly, risk of lung cancer was increased by 25 percent."

Before this study, there were

no major safety concerns with ARBs except for their use in pregnancy and in

patients with chronic kidney or blockages of kidney arteries.

Interestingly, previous animal studies with ARBs have been negative for

cancer development. This was probably done with the "Monsanto Technique" If

it doesn't kill the rat in two hours it's safe to give to humans.

People who don't brush their

teeth twice a day have an increased risk of heart disease, scientists said

on Friday, adding scientific weight to 19th century theories about oral

health and chronic disease.

British researchers studied

nearly 12,000 adults in Scotland and found those with poor oral hygiene had

a 70 percent extra risk of heart disease compared with those who brushed

twice a day and who were less likely to have unhealthy gums. People with

gum disease are more likely to develop heart disease and diabetes because
