Hi Anne,

I succumbed to Yell's sales talk last year and bought their " complete "

package of listing my website via yell.com and yell advert and yellow

pages ad. Didn't bring me a single new client but did give me a lot of

hassle since Yell managed to get just about every detail wrong (phone

no, post code and wording of the ad) taking up considerable amounts of

my time to sort out. Personally I now won't give them the time of day

and hang up as soon as they identify themselves on phone.

Also beware of the prices they quote as they are all ex vat.

Hi Anne,            I repeatedly tell (scream at) them every year to remove me from their marketing list and it seems this year may be the only one they haven't called me! Ask them this when they are deep into it:

So can you guarantee me XXXXXXXXXXX?They will say no. So follow up with so why should I pay you?You should get silence!Yes I'm in it for normal advertising but web stuff is very nebulous and you can do a lot yourself for free. Ask your local Business Link if they run any courses on Web/Search Engine Optimisation etc.

Hi everyone,I am always getting phone calls and emails inviting me to advertise my website via yell.com. Up to now I have always refrained from accepting. 

My question is, 'has anyone found that this is worth the outlay?' Thanks    Anne
