(1) Participating in Research (a primer for anyone who is not familiar with being a part of a research study) Go to http://www.researchautism.org/family/research/participating/index.asp (2) Reading Research (a primer for anyone who is not familiar with reading research reports) Go to http://www.researchautism.org/family/research/reading/index.asp (3) Research Basics (a primer for anyone who is not familiar with any part of research) Go to http://nichcy.org/research/basics After all, prior to attending graduate school and learning how to reference and cite papers, the longest paper I wrote was five pages in undergraduate (you read this right, five pages - basically unheard of anymore). It didn't involve any citing and referencing. I received a C on my first paper in graduate school (equal to an F in a two-year or four-year undergraduate class). The grade on my rewrite was much, much better, and my papers improved from there. I passed my written comps about two years later on the first try. Keep in mind that not everyone in here has taken a Research Methods class to understand the importance of good research having validity and reliability, as well as being free of all kinds of bias.
