Guest guest
Great website, Elaine. I have bookmarked it and will make great use of it educating those who need it. I have taken on the care of cats belonging to family members who insisted on declawing cats, which later developed litter box problems, and it was my taking the cats or the owners were going to take them to the pound or euthanize them. The "cat" part of my house has hard floors and scrubbable surfaces, no upholstered furniture, just so I can rescue these poor creatures. None now, just my own cats, but last spring I had two 17 year-old girls who had gotten age related incontinance issues and lived out the last two years of their life with us. They had both been beloved family members for many years, then were going to be put to sleep. One was my sister-in-law's and the other belonged to my son. They were great friends, and died within a couple of weeks of each other. Declawing is a hot issue with me. cats Here are some helpful websites. No one here needs this advice, but I thought it may be a helpful way of letting others know how to deal with these situations. If you know someone who lets their cats kill birds on a regular basis, rather than confronting them, it may be easier to print out this info and give it to them. Or send them to the webpages. Guest guest
, it's so good for you to take them in. When I go to the adoption events (to adopt cats my rescue group has brought in), people always want to tell us their cat stories. Sometimes they are so horrendous and the people talk as thought this is routine stuff, or okay in some way. It always surprises me. We do our best to educate, as kindly as possible so that it has the best chance of penetrating thick brains, even as we stand there in shock. I try to remember that things are normal to people who have always done it that way, until it's brought to their attention; maybe many times. Great website, Elaine.
