The

e.coli threat lurking in a free dab of lipstick

Women are putting their health

at risk by dabbing on lipstick, moisturizer and mascara from cosmetics

tester packs at high street beauty counters. In a shocking study,

researchers found that every make-up tester pack they analyzed was

contaminated by the e.coli bug.

A two-year investigation found

the highest levels of bacteria were present on Saturdays, the biggest

shopping day of the week. As well as e.coli - which causes stomach cramps

and diarrhea and, in severe cases, can be fatal - staphyloccus and

streptococcus bacteria were found, which can cause infections. Women could

also be unknowingly passing on viruses such as herpes to fellow

shoppers.

While Dr , a

biological sciences professor at Jefferson Medical College in Pennsylvania,

who led the study, said: 'Wherever you can see e.coli, you should just

think e.coli equals feces. 'That means someone went to the bathroom, didn't

wash their hands and then stuck their fingers in that moisturizer.'

steps up pressure for smacking ban on human rights grounds

Britain is facing renewed

pressure from Europe to ban smacking on human rights grounds. It is now one

of only a handful of countries holding out against a complete ban on the

practice, according to the Council of Europe.

The organization criticized

the fact that state intervention into family affairs is seen as "unwelcome"

in Britain and attacked traditional parenting practices which are based on

"authority". The intervention, which follows a series of failed attempts to

impose a complete ban in Parliament, comes 10 years after European judges

ruled that smacking could violate children's human rights.

Again Invade Amish Farm for 5 a.m. Inspection

HFA members may remember a

previous article (FDA

Invades Non-Commercial Amish Farm in PA) we published about the FDA

invading an Amish farm. The story continues with agents invading the Amish

farm in Pennsylvaniayet again at 5 a.m. to inspect cow-milking facilities

then followed up the next day with a written notice that the farmer was

engaged in interstate sale of raw milk in violation of the Public Health

Services Act.

They came in the dark,

shining bright flashlights while my family was asleep, keeping me from

milking my cows, from my family, from breakfast with my family and from our

morning devotions, and alarming my children enough so that the first

question they asked my wife was, "Is Daddy going to jail?" Allgyer

said.

What type of government lets

big commercial farms use every type of hormone and chemical known to man

but has to call out the swat team for an Amish farmer producing raw
