Guest guest
Ann I know one way to control neuropatthy pain. This is my experience, I wrote to avoid repeating it. sam DMSO THE PAIN SOLVENT This product is dimethyl sulfoxide, a solvent, a by-product of the paper industry. It's properties were discovered well after it was in use, so nobody holds a patent for it, and no company (drug company) can have exclusive rights to it. It's approved medical uses are as a bladder infusion for a painful disease, intersticial cystitis, and to draw water from the brain in accidents to reduce swelling. It is similarly used to draw water from sperm and egg before they are frozen. It was widely advertised in California, and was withdrawn by state law. It is still sold as a solvent. I am a diabetic and have neuropathy. I am convinced that as nerves die from high sugars they give a final pain message. My first use was as a painkiller. I had pain in my heel bones and shins, I thought I would never walk again. Several applications on the skin per day for several days stopped the pain. It did not return in any way for years. Now an occasional application renews it. I was applying it with two fingers, they became white and wrinkled like they had been in water too long, and turned numb to the second joint, soon normal. I had capillitis in my legs, where blood leaks from small blood vessels leaving both red and later rusty iron stains. Conventional treatment reduced the leakage after taking citrus bioflavonoids, but left the rusty stains. It stopped both after several applications of DMSO. I saw it as a bleach, and chose to try it on age spots on my arms, it worked, leaving a normal tone to the skin. I used it on hip and knee pain, elbow and spine. These required more frequent repeated applications. My dentist had painful knee and ankle pain, he had to operate the pedals of his drill and stand while working and was hurting. After a few days it was gone. I have injected it near knee joints, and tendons. When I was found to have fatty tumors on the lower margin of my rib cage, after having them surgically removed from my belly twice, I stuck them with a syringe each half inch, and 0.1cc per injection site. They shrank, and did not return for 2 years. I shot them again, they are gone! It stings after a few minutes until you not sure you should have done it, but fades away and has the desired result. I had a hot swollen finger joint, (arthritis?) I made a topical application twice. The pain and swelling went right away. I had a patch on my wrist, bright red. Cortisone was doing nothing, one application of DMSO it sloughed off. I have used it for the painful bites from spiders. The rule is if it hurts persistently, I apply it. I had no luck on diabetic spots on my legs. I have treated gouty toes and foot pains. It seems to leave skin and tissues more normal than they were. It will carry into the blood stream any chemical on the skin. I had some low flat skin growths on my arms that after application softened and could be removed like dead skin. It left no trace. After that I noticed similar places on my cheeks, each side of the nose, went to the dermatologist and he said in hushed tones we don't treat those. At home I applied DMSO and they promptly sloughed off. Since it was a solvent, and I was right in the area, I wondered if it would have any effect on blackheads and white heads on my nose. The sebum softened and the pores were opened. I also lost most of my sense of smell for several weeks. This made me wonder if it might not help alleviate tinnitus, ringing in the ears. I have used it on carpal tunnel, the sore wrist with good results. I have some damage to my skin nerves, I can feel hot and cold at once. I felt pain from being cold, and applied DMSO to my arms and legs, it felt better. A potential problem, it may make the body bleed more when using large amounts at first. Women might avoid using it around menses. It is said to give a garlic taste in the mouth seconds after application. It will dissolve many plastics, including non-woven blankets. I would keep it away from eyes and sensitive skin areas. For local people, I get it at Henrys Market, it is in the vitamin section. It comes as a gel, and in an applicator bottle. I priced it recently, the 4 0z gel is 4$95, the 3 oz liquid 70% roll-on is 4$95, the 8oz liquid is 9$05 16oz liquid is 12$65. The PO charges $3, 2 days delivery up to 2# in the US. I wash it off with water after about 10 minutes, or use a wet washrag rinse. Also visit dmso.org write designnut@...
Guest guest
JoAnn, rule of thumb is fasting before meals 4 to 7 (that's 75 to 130 in the states) and 2 to 3 hours after 7 to 11 (that's 130 to 200 in the States) fp > Also can anyone give me some figures as to how BG's should run when not > fasting? I know everyone is different, but , just some guidelines. I can't > get a straight answer from my Dr. and my Sister's Dr. told her that he would > be happy with her fasting if she would keep it under 200! > > Thanks, > JoAnn
Guest guest
> >My question has to do with neuropathy. My feet hurt so badly that some >days, I can't stand to wear shoes. I've also found that you can't explain >neuropathy to someone that hasn't had it. I don't think that even my Dr. >understands how painful it can be. My family gives me responses like, " If >you get up and walk on them, they will pobably quit hurting. " > >I'm willing to try almost anything. Dr. says that sometimes the feeling >returns and sometimes not. Has anyone on the list ever had their neuropathy >go away? I don't ever have real freedom from neuropathy pain, but I can tell you a trick or two that i've learned to help make it manageable! First, and I know some woll think this is a no-no, but I will soak my feet in ice water until they are numb. i discovered this one summer at my family's place on a lake where I was always in the water, and the cold made my feet feel great! Another thing, but do this really carefully, is after the cold soak, do a 20-30 sec plunge in hot water.(the first time I did this I cursed my chirapractor but when I had several hours pain free, I blessed him!) I use a wonderful gel called AlpenGel which has arnica and calendula. It is really soothing. I also am constantly putting on Dr. Scholl's Peppermint foot Lotion, which helps. I also take an arsenal of meds...neurontonin, Nortriptalyn, and Ultram, and Ginko (for circulation) Vitamon E.... Hope these sugesstions help....Neuropathy pain is the worst...except that I guess it is a blessing to feel anything at all! And I agree that nobody understands unless you have it, chronic pain just wears a person out, plus for me it is at it's worst at night.
