Go to our other page on lemons for how to use lemon as an herbal remedy * The many benefits of lemon can be had from using it as a condiment, a la Italiano. The Italians make something called “Gremolata” which is equal parts lemon zest, parsley and garlic. The good thing about this mixture is that it can substitute for table salt and a host of other bad-4-u flavor enhancers. As a bonus, you also get the health benefits of garlic and parsley, two superb herbal remedies. Gremolata would go especially well on fish, chicken, potato, salads and the like. * If you are eating eggs, as Healthy World encourages, preferably organic - and, as me, can’t get the darn shells off of hard boiled eggs without losing half the white part, try this. Before putting eggs in boiling water, try brushing shells with lemon juice. That stops them from cracking while they cook and during peeling. Glad we got that settled. * I don’t like slicing produce well before using it but if you do try squeezing a little lemon juice over the sliced produce to original coloring and preserve freshness. This is good for anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. It’s good on many fruits such as avocados, apples, nectarines, pears, peaches and apricots.
