I am not sure how true this is but most of our fruits and veg comes from places with no control over what is used to make them grow.....

they are sprayed from the time they are planted to the time they are harvested.I worked on an apple orchard in Washington state along the Columbia river back in the late 70's. I was hungry and I bit into an apple that fell on the ground, my tongue bled, I am not kidding, after that, I started feeling sick and my husband told me its not worth working here, its a toxic dump, so we left. After that I would never eat a conventional apple again, and I didn't buy them, or like apple juice that isn't organic. Lucky enough I have 2 apple trees on my land, and I don't care that they have coddling moths either, I just cut around them, they are sweet as sweet can be.That is the trouble with marketers and consumers they don't want to buy produce that is blemished, or have bugs on them. I'd

rather live with the insects than have the pesticides and people should realize this and demand a better way of living.

I don't know just how much gets washed a way, I do remember Dr Bronner's soap used to say on the bottle that you should wash the vegies and fruits with the soap. I wash all my fruits and vegies just with water any way. Even melons, avocados, things like that. But it's what is inside that matters. Scary huh?

Washing and peeling, will help. The main problem are the pesticides & insecticides that gets in the ground, mixes with the water and is soaked up into the plants, which is the worse thing that can happen. Our bodies are slowly being poisoned.
