Neurology Today - GBA Mutation and Lewy Body Disorders - Two Studies

In June, the American Academy of Neurology held their annual meeting

and the following information was presented evidencing the results of

two studies.

A known genetic mutation (GBA) that causes Gaucher Disease has been

linked to being a significant risk factor in developing PD or any Lewy

Body Disorder: " carriers of the mutation were signifcantly more likely

than non-carriers to have a clinical diagnosis of PD or Lewy Body

dementia " .
