A known genetic mutation (GBA) that causes Gaucher Disease has been linked to being a significant risk factor in developing PD or any Lewy Body Disorder: " carriers of the mutation were signifcantly more likely than non-carriers to have a clinical diagnosis of PD or Lewy Body dementia " .
