From the description, it surely sounds like a woolybear caterpillar. The mature counterpart would be a fairly drab tan moth called the Isabella moth, which is interesting in that the upper part (femur) of each leg is bright orange, and the less noticible hind wing is pale salmon colored. Becca could not find any other caterpillar in your area that came close to your description

When I think about it, this group is rich with such people.

why thank you for the compliment. It does seem to be quite an eclectic group doesn't it?

Thanks, Janet. I regret that I do not have a broader range of interests. I admire people who are vitally interested in many things.

I think that my daughter is much like I hope to be when I grow up. She reads voraciously and widely, plays piano and harp well, has degrees in English and studio art, rides horses with sympathy and skill, and makes a living as a landscaper. Added to that, she is terribly modest and would hate that I wrote all this, even to someone she does not know.

Actually, you seem more akin to the type of person I admire, with a wide range of interests and abilities. When I think about it, this group is rich with such people. I feel like a groupie, an admiring fan of people with abilities I can only hope to be like with time and effort.

What a special bunch you all are.
