Hi all,

I stumbled this support group via google and I would like some advice & help.

My first symptoms of erythema nodosum first started in Jan this year where I

experienced sore knees. I dismissed it, thinking it could be my wore out heels

and cold weather that cause it. It was followed by bruise like patches appearing

on my calves and on my back of legs and the bruises like patches were painful

when I pressed it. I went to see several doctors which did not know what is the

problem. The 3rd doctor I have seen noticed the high ESR from my blood test and

he referred me to a dermatologist in a hospital.

The dermatologist diagnosed it as erythema nodosum. However I was not given any

medication as the dermatologist claimed the bruise like patches will fade off. I

am not on long term medication nor on pills. I only took Naprogesic once or

twice a month to curb my monthly menstrual cramps and the dermatologist claimed

that could have spark off erythema nodosum . I have stopped taking Naprogesic

for about 3 months now, however the bruise like patches still remain.

The bruise like patches have now turned to a deeper colour. It is no longer

painful when I pressed it. However, the patches look ugly on my legs and I feel

so conscious wearing shorts or skirts.

I would like to ask the members who have suffered from erythema nodosum on the

time taken for them to recover. How long did the bruise like patches fade off?

It has been 5 months now and I have been googling for information and the

information I gathered was that it will take approximately 4-6 weeks and for my

case, it is already 5 months.

Are there any members from Singapore where I am from? I have seen many doctors

who cannot help me much and I would like to know if there is a good doctor in

Singapore which I can seek treatment & help from.

Thank you for reading & I appreciate any help or advice which is available.

A sad & depressed EN patient

Amy
