This was on my local news station here in Oregon. Looks like people are trying to get away from mass factory farm production, and this is one clever way of doing it. It's legal in Oregon to have people buy into this program and get their raw milk. Valley farm is voluntarily renounced its state Grade A dairy license Monday in favor of a different program. The Siskiyou Crest Goat Dairy Farm is now in the Oregon Department of Agriculture's Herd Share Program. The program allows farmers to sell off portions of their herd to customers. The customers, in turn, can get any product they want without it being regulated by the ODA. The farm says the primary reason for the switch is that it found many of its customers wanted raw or unpasteurized milk and cheese. "As far as I know, this is an unprecedented act for an Oregon Grade A creamery, or a Grade A creamery anywhere, to give up their state license in order to switch over to this model," Siskiyou Crest Goat Dairy Owner Mookie Moss said. The ODA says this is not a trend. They say they have given more Grade A licenses to goat dairies in the past five years than ever

before.
