New members are reminded that this seminar forms part of the mandatory part of the NMS. The seminar is open to all herbalists. Best wishes Stannard (NIMH PTB Chair) THE POSTGRADUATE TRAINING BOARD A KEY SKILLS SEMINAR FOR NEW MEMBER HERBALISTS YOUR SUCCESSFUL PRACTICE A one-day seminar Led by Kath Antonis MNIMH and Tassell MNIMH The seminar has been planned to help you set up, establish and manage your herbal practice. Sharing your experience of early practice or your own business skills will be encouraged. The day will include: • practical advice concerning book keeping, tax returns, stock control • location, location, location – finding a good clinic, how to make a shared room yours • advertising and marketing – getting yourself known, leaflets, networking, walks and talks, • finding support – financial support, grants, practitioner groups, NIMH • self care – time management, avoiding burnout, maintaining boundaries Although attendance at this seminar is required for herbalists on the New Members Scheme (NMS), practitioners with experience can gain from looking afresh at their business management and will be very welcome to attend. Kath Antonis qualified from the College of Phytotherapy in 2000, after 17 years experience in children’s nursing. In recent years she has combined her successful practice management with teaching at the Preston Clinic of Herbal Medicine and facilitating an exciting initiative. Tassell qualified as a herbalist via the College of Phytotherapy in 2000, after nearly ten years working for the NHS as a Biomedical Scientist, and has been in practice ever since. She has established a new practice twice in this time due to house moves and thus has a lot of personal experience concerning starting new herbal practices from scratch. currently works as Student Liaison Officer for NIMH.
