Guest guest
This isn't aimed at anyone in particular. I haven't been on the group enough and I occasionally make this announcement to remind everyone and to make sure the group stays tight to the core ideal. RL is not primarily a 'support group'. It's more of a 'user group' for women using BHRT and seeking vibrant health. The aim on rhythmicliving is to take great care about giving reference(s) for our comments so we don't devolve into a sprawling, lurching morass. It is very easy to disseminate information as a FACT when it's simply another myth or is something that does not universally apply to all women. Remember getting sucked into the 'estrogen dominant' story? If you look at the care Dr. Formby takes in his literature excepts you will get a grounding for how we need to phrase our posts. Scientists use very careful wording so they aren't backing themselves into a corner. The goal is to leave room for new information and context. How else will they make science about learning and not the egos?! ALSO... I believe it is very important to support (she said support!) each other in learning to think for ourselves and to question everything. I believe that anyone who did the WP has a sense of remorse about putting her body at risk by believing someone too easily and not doing a better job of checking documentation (ex, if you don't use all that P you could get cancer in 3 months). We support by aligning with good hygiene in our thinking. So.... Do not directly diagnose another women on this group, say, " when i get that I had..... " Do not directly tell someone else what to do, say " This is what I'd do.. " Do not throw yourself in the middle of the group to be 'saved', " tell me what to do " , more like, " Any ideas, help me brainstorm, etc... " Do not make statements as fact unless you can back it up. This is a fact. I can say, " I feel like hell without estrogen. " This is not a fact. " Women feel like hell without estrogen " because some women will say they are very happy in menopause without estrogen. I don't get it, but globalizing our experience to everyone else is funky logic and being open and curious about that which doesn't fit our favorite hypothesis will make us better thinkers. Documentation. Consider your sources, carefully. By aligning with these goals we can make the group a high quality place for discussion and attract intelligent women. Sorry this is so wordy. Not enough time to cull. ok, carry on.... (-: Laurel
Guest guest
Laurel, Just to clarify-- If I say (as I did in a previous post) " There are published studies that show . . . . " can that stand as is or do I need to give links to them? > > This isn't aimed at anyone in particular.
