Guest guest
Shepherd' Purse, given during labour (2 or 3 mL every 2 hours or so) and immediately after the birth helps to speed up delivery of the placenta and reduce the risk of post partum haemorrhage. Schizandra chinenisis given in the 2 weeks or so before expected date of delivery helps with natural labour and reduces the risk of complications. Hello all, I have been asked by a doula (I have given talks to her pre-natal groups in the past) for help with one of her ladies. She had a previously very traumatic first birth, ending in a caesarian and a post-partum haemorrhage. She's having a home birth this time round, with the doula assisting - but she is worried about haemorrhaging again. They wanted to ask about specific herbs for prevention - but will come for a full appointment to see how herbs can help. Does anyone have experience of this? I am particularly concerned about how to time any herbs given, as I feel strong astringents will affect the delivery if given too early. Guest guest
That’s a helpful tip Anne-Marie! Never thought of using Schisandra like that. An infusion or decoction of roots/rhizome of Agapanthus spp. are used here in South Africa for both purposesCraig From: ukherbal-list [mailto:ukherbal-list ] On Behalf Of Áine Marie ReillySent: 07 June 2012 19:08To: ukherbal-list Subject: Re: Help with home birth Shepherd' Purse, given during labour (2 or 3 mL every 2 hours or so) and immediately after the birth helps to speed up delivery of the placenta and reduce the risk of post partum haemorrhage.
