Guest guest
Hello All, Does anyone watch Oprah. On one episode, Dr. Oz made something called a Green Drink. He blended a bunch of green veggies in blender. The mixture consisted of spinach, cucumbers, celery, red apples, lime, lemon and ginger root. I made it and it did not turn out smooth. Anyway, my question is is it healthy to drink veggies. If I wanted to male a spinach juice with some lemon juice and an apple, would that constitute as a meal or snack? Guest guest
I would count it as the carb portion of one of your 6 daily meals. You would still need some protein too. It's a great way to get your veggies in! Guest guest
I agree it is a great way to get veggies and would be a good carb. I recently found I can hide vegetables in vegetable soup with by running through the blender. I have a cookbook called Deceptively Delicious that disguises all kinds of stuff for picky eaters. Guest guest
I dont' watch TV but someone on a forum I frequent posted that recipe, tho it didn't hav e lime in it. It called for green apples because they have less sugar. Parsley, cucumber, spinach, ginger root, lemon juice; I think that is all without going to look for it. I make it in the blender, have to add more water than what was specified, because it is not juiced. I then add more water when I go to drink it because it is still pretty " spoonable " in that state. I think it was called Dr. Oz's Green drink. I like it........have a glassful every noon. z If this has already been addressed, please excuse me, because my computer crashed, I am using my DIL's laptop and am just going through the emails from oldest posts. ---- Andy wrote: > I agree it is a great way to get veggies and would be a good carb. Guest guest
Ah, thank you. I like green apples better anyway. They are more tart than red apples. Guest guest
I saw that episode of Oprah and agree with Dr. Oz..also with the gal who has the show on bbc..called " you are what you eat " ...they both agree we as a people do not get enough raw fruits and veggies. My most favorite raw juice drink is 1/4 raw beet...1/2 green apple..1/4 cucumber....I usually dilute my raw juices with spring water and serve over ice. It's a delicious and healthy snack. Though you must always remember that's a concentrated form of carbs and should be counted in your calorie intact. Stay fit...stay strong..and remember you are the owner of your body.
