Guest guest
This calorie calculator is a good tool on the Body for Life site. http://www.bodyforlife.com/exercise/tools.asp Check it out. How many calories should I consume? Hello!! I am brand new to the site. I am on my second day and am feeling absolutely stuffed at every meal. I feel like I am over eating but I counted my calorie intake yesterday and it was exactly 1500 calories and today is 1470 calories. I have been working out for 6 days a week for 4 years and have juggled with my weight every year. I am trying the Body for Life program to get my body to where it should be based on the fact that I am in good shape but don't look it. I weigh 160 lbs and am 5'-7 " tall. I am looking to get down to 130 lbs. Any recommendations on the amount of calories I should be taking in would be great. I have feeling I am eating too many. I am also doing the work outs just like the Body for Life book states, has anyone found an issue with only doing 20 min of cardio 3 times a week? I am used to doing 60 min 6 days a week, this is a drastic change for me. One more question, are we not suppose to eat aft 6 pm? Or can I still eat one of my meals at 9 pm? Craming 6 meals between 8 am and 6 pm has been super hard. Thanks! L
Guest guest
, Welcome to the group! I'll attempt to answer some of your questions and ask some as well. Are you weighing out your food just to check portion sizes? It really doesn't " sound " like you are under-eating to me, but maybe your portion sizes have expanded over time? Or it could be that if you were doing cardio 6 days per week for 1 hour, you just weren't eating enough and your body has tried to conserve calories. 1500 calories per day does not sound like enough if you were doing that much cardio. I think it is something you have to balance and if you deprive your body too much, it is going to fight back by conserving calories (lowering your metabolism). When I started the program, I did fine with cardio 3 times per week for 20 minutes plus the weight training which I believe is a key component to losing fat. It isn't just the cardio. Now that I'm into running, I do a lot of cardio and I have to eat more to have the strength and energy to do all the cardio (did 8+ hours last week) plus 2 weight workouts. I'm generally not losing weight since I've upped my portions although I am trying to lose 6 lbs right now. You can eat after 6 pm with the BFL program.
