Guest guest
15 years ago when I was diagnosed with hbp my doctor put me on a high dose just to get the numbers lower; when my blood pressure dropped and stayed low he started lowering the dosage until we found what would keep it under control. That would seem to be the way to do it rather than starting low and working up. Am going to change dr as soon as I can, visited mine last week, he had said I was borderline in Dec. last week he said the further tests they had done in Dec. did in fact show I was a diabetic but he didn't think it was necessary to phone me at home to bother telling me..duh duh is right!!! LOL loose him real fast, was this the same dr who starts bp meds off high then goes lower? Better loose that one too, if you haven't already, I know that was 15 yrs ago, but ??? You could have dangerously bottomed out, that is to only be done is an inpatient hospital invioroment where nurses are watching you 24/7, hopefully no one here tries that.:-) carol

Guest guest
Having gone through 2 weeks IV, then 2 mths later 3 weeks IV antis, I started having some ‘funny turns’ recently.... Faint, like my head is wobbly, and legs won’t hold me up, find somewhere sit quick....dreamy, nice place, no pain although icy cold, nice not to come back....but do, with nausea, pounding headache, sweating ..... And from a usual 110/75 BP (and around the 40-45kg most of my life at barely 5’) am suddenly having BP as high as 157/100+ - oh, but it’s ok cos under the 160 arbitrary ‘danger’ line. Doesn’t weight, muscle-mass, fitness etc come into this, or the fact that it’s a sudden change after meds not had so much of so intensely before. Anyone else? Came home from 20hrs in ED o/night, 4-5hrs sleep, to be told it’s b/c I’m too anxious....!!!!!!!! LOL and maybe a few words of a blue tinge! Tired, fed up, and despair at future health ‘service’... joy
Guest guest
My goodness, your internist should be concerned about the type of symptoms you describe. With your experience, I would think they could see that you are able to deal with a lot and not just an anxious person! I'm sorry they treat you this way. Guest guest
I've had the same lightheaded, faint feeling - since childhood. I can remember riding in subway cars to school in NYC - crowded, stuffy, no air to breathe - and feeling like I had to stand against the wall or else I'd fall down in a faint. My BP has always been low, too! Usually around 90-110/60-70. So I began carrying around a piece of chocolate or candy, esp an apple would help . Something to raise my sugar level seemed to help. I still get that feeling sometimes but I try to eat every couple of hours and I don't get it as often. Live..Love..Laugh! Subject: RE: blood pressureTo: bronchiectasis Date: Thursday, July 24, 2008, 11:26 AM Joy, I have the wobbly legs, find somewhere to sit, on occasion, when walking or shopping. My BP is always low. Guest guest
I've had this light headed feeling quite often and found if I have something with sugar in it I am better. I wonder if our blood sugar is out of whack because of meds or the bronchiectasis itself? Interesting thread. Nan -- If nothing ever changed, there'd be no butterflies. Guest guest
The sugar solution may work for some, but not for people like me. I'm diabetic. Not only does that complicate things when it comes to eating sugar, but I'm not even sure that low BG is the cause of my lightheadedness. I've checked my blood sugar several times when I felt that lightheaded/weak/near-syncope thing. I've checked my blood pressure, too. Usually (though not always), my blood glucose (BG) readings have been normal or at least near-normal. My blood pressure readings haven't seemed very out of whack, either. Unfortunately, the fact that I'm diabetic makes it a little tricky for me to " treat " the lightheadedness by eating some candy or fruit or other sugary item. If my sugar is normal, I might need to take an insulin shot first. (I use short-acting insulin on an as-needed basis so that I can eat carbohydrates.) If I'm feeling lightheaded and weak, it also might me hard for me to prepare my shot and inject myself. When my sugar does go low, I can eat a little bit of candy, drink a half-cup of fruit juice or take glucose tablets. Then I'm supposed to check it again in 15 minutes and, if it's normal, eat a light snack with both carbs and protein. (I don't always have the snack after a hypo episode, though.) In any case, except in a very dire emergency, I don't think I'd want to treat the lightheadedness with sugar unless my BG tests low. For others, that may work, though. -- > Will try that for emergencies. Guest guest
Ah, thx lin, while I was in ED last week they gave me a potassium drink....no explanation, why potassium was low... Typical eh? Guest guest
Joy, Good to hear from YOU. After all your recent ills, you are very remarkable. My latest is that I had an endoscopy of my esophagus done which shows I have Barretts esophagus. What that means is a change in the cell structure, which could be pre cancerous or even cancerous. But at this point it isn't. He just told me to take an acid reflux med twice a day and elevate the head of my bed, which I had already done. The weird thing is that I have had heartburn maybe 10 times in my life, but I guess the stomach acid has done its damage anyway. Then there is the peripheral neuropathy issue. That is numbness of my hands and feet. The neurologist wants me to have a nerve biopsy, which I was told by a neurosurgeon has some risk of nerve damage and not to jump into it. This disorder is more annoying than anything, because it really slows me down and I am used to moving at top speed. Then there is the bronchiectasis, which is kind of in the background now, as my breathing has been better, and NO infections since I had the bronchoscopy and the doctor kind of washed out my lungs. Although I recently found out my new pulmonologist, a woman, is leaving her practice, and I absolutely loved her. Oh well. It is what it is. I have to live in the present, whatever it may be. Guest guest
I noticed several people have been taking Levaquin. I have taken it twice. Once for urinary infect and once for bronch. I was just looking at what the side effects can be, and it is a little disturbing. Tendon rupture, mostly in older people, severe allergic reactions, cause peripheral neuropathy (which I already have), severe diarrhea, and quiite a few others. Here I was thinking it was one of the safer new drugs, but I guess not. MarilynGet fantasy football with free live scoring. Sign up for FanHouse Fantasy Football today. Guest guest
--- Hi, everyone. I'm new to this chat & to this disease. My husband was dx'd. just this wk. at The Cleveland Clinic. He was prescribed a nebulizer and instructed to use 3ml of 3% saline solution 3 times/day. So far, we have been unable to find the 3% saline in one-dose vials. He's been using the ones he left The Clinic with. He uses the " flutter " immediately after the nebulizer and says he can already feel a difference. We're hopeful. Thanks for this forum. > > > > > > > Subject: Re: Re: blood pressure > > To: bronchiectasis > > Date: Thursday, July 31, 2008, 10:53 AM > > yes its a prescription for plain viles of saline,,, its > > known that salt is a > > natural clenser so i thought to try to add extra saline > > since im using the > > neb anyway for the albuterol and low n behold it helped > > cut down the darkness > > of my mucus and the amount too,,,i get 100 vials in a box, > > i only pay 5.00 for > > it with my prescription plan,,the viles are 0.9% > > > > > > > > **************Get fantasy football with free live scoring. > > Sign up for > > FanHouse Fantasy Football today. > > (http://www.fanhouse.com/fantasyaffair?ncid=aolspr00050000000020) >
