Guest guest
Hi Zoe No no books like the one you asked for, but one that I have been reading this weekend is 'Skinny Bitch'. I got it out of the library and it's a really straight talking book, aimed at people for losing weight, but its approach is a natural diet, telling people all about aspartame, dairy etc etc etc. It's really hard core and uses some expletives but I've been really enjoying reading it! You might like to look at it next time you're in the bookshop! It's by Rory freedman and Kim Barnouin. I haven't read it all, and can't comment on the validity of its references but it has really made me laugh! Its ISBN is 100762424931. i remember that E for additives book, it was my mum's bible when we were growing up - what a lucky child I was to have such a forward thinking mum! x Hayley x <http://www.foremanandjones.co.uk/> Helping you to feel better in yourself Hayley Medical Herbalist, Registered Hypnotherapist & NLP Master Practitioner Foreman & The Sandgate Clinic 92 Sandgate High Street Sandgate, Kent. Additives book Dear all, I had a new 5 yrs old eczema patient yesterday - started at 3 years old, red hot dry, all over body and face. Been on betnovate for years. Mum keen to stop using it. It all became clear about 2 mins into the consultation when mum pulled out drink and snack for the child - a packet of " Fruit flakes " (flaky fruit eh!!) and a " flavoured " water drink. So I jumped very quickly to looking at this childs diet which is not suprisingly full of crap like that. So launched into a big diet talk and mum is pretty clueless about cooking and nutrition(although she doesn't eat the crap she gives her daughter, Gillian Mckeith is her favourite program and her 7 year old son won't because of the healthy eating stuff they did at his school (hooray!!) She is really keen to learn and change her daughters life. I have put together a diet sheet of what to avoid and what to increase intake of, but she could do with recipes too. So bar writing a whole book about healthy cooking, does any one have any good tips of a nice simple, not too hard core healthy food recipe book. My cookery skills have been patched together from lots of different books and experience and I don't really know of one specifically - especially one with families in mind. Also suddenly thought of the book E is for additives although I can only find a 1987 edition - anyone aware of a more up to date book with similar information. Guest guest
www.foresight-preconception.org.uk 01243 868001 produced a pocket sized booklet last year based on E for Additives along with other sources, and an extra section on MSG and what it is hidden as. The additives are colour coded red, yellow, green, to indicate known adverse effects, conflicting views and no known adverse effects, it's quite useful and cheap!
