Guest guest Posted February 2, 2008 Report Share Posted February 2, 2008 As a firefighter I work 24 hours on duty, then 48 hours off. Yesterday was my on-duty shift. Occasionally we have easy nights where I get a full night's sleep, but more commonly we have nights like last night. Enough said. I got up from my bunk at the firehouse this morning, headed to the gym, and got my cardio workout done just as planned. What I noticed is that I had a tough time getting my heart rate up to the same levels I've had on my best workouts. I can't decide if it's the fatigue or the fact that I was hungrier than usual after waiting for the gym to open at 8:00 on a Saturday. I'm glad I got it done, I do feel like I put out my best effort, I just don't know that I got the benefit that I have before. I've got some free time today. I'm thinking a nap is in order!
