Leigh,

Welcome back to the BFL program! I, myself, have gone a little off course and

want to also drop maybe 50 pounds in the next 6+/- months. Maybe we can

motivate each other from afar!

Oh... BTW, I think there might be some other " cause " of your pregnancy. I

somehow don't think dropping pounds makes one pregnant. ...Of course, I think I

understand EXACTLY how it might be related. ;)

When not traveling, I am a work-at-home dad, so I have many of the same

challenges, but only with 3 little guys still at home. We do not home school,

but, the junk-food is WAY TOO available in this home, too.

I was VERY successful with BFL for nearly 4 years, but, I have had huge personal

challenges and have not yet recovered. I am not sure why I continue to slip

backwards, but, I am lacking in my own motivation, lately and need to get that

under control.

What part of the world / country do you call home? I'm in Southeastern PA:

sville, if you know where that might be. I have a pretty complete gym

that I have built up over the years and have NO excuses for not using it every

day.

Still trying to find the roadway back to...

Progress, NOT perfection,

Leigh,

Wow...Long time no see or hear!

Last I remember, you were just getting married. Are you still in P~cola?

How in the world did you wind up with 4 kids that are already being home

schooled? Give us the details girl!

I have been imprisoned in a caste and on crutches for 7 freak'n weeks (broke

my leg 3/11) and am getting fatter by the minute. My BF% has gone up from

28% to 33% from all of the muscle loss and lack of exercise. I see the doc

Wednesday with great hopes that I will at least be allowed to be off these

crutches. I can then work out with weights again since I will have free

hands to carry weights from the wrack to the bench.

Leigh,

This entire group could be your " diet buddy " . Maybe someone could

step up and offer to pair with you, but even without that don't

hesitate to use those of us who hang around here (some more than

others). I'm glad to hear you want to transform yourself. You've

certainly set some lofty goals for yourself.

You have maybe set your target of 50# in 3-4 months a little far

out. That would work out to be at least 4# per week, which is a lot

faster than most fitness experts advise. That would require a

caloric deficit of approximately 2000 per day!!!! The BFL calorie

calculator suggests you should eat about 2400 calories per day to

lose fat. Even if you got more aggressive and input your " lean

weight " they would suggest eating 1400 calories per day. To get that

2000 calorie deficit you'd need to burn 3400 calories per day.. That

is a lot. I'm not trying to suggest it isn't possible, but it is

most assuredly a lofty goal.

My suggestion is to become a religious recorder of all you eat. It

can help you spot faults and do something to correct them. You might

go a bit farther than Bill suggests in the book and count the

calories also. Websites like Fitday.com make it pretty easy.

Good luck on your quest.

,

Nice to meet you. I live in Nort East PA. Acctually, I just moved here not too

long ago and am just getting over bad case of cabin fever. I'm used to being

able to get outside all the time -being from the south.

It may seem like a pipe dream wanting too loose so much over the summer, but I

think I need to set the goals high.

I guess what I need to do is get out and start running again. Unfortunatly,

today is yucky rainy.  So don't laugh at me, I'm going to get out my 8lb weights

and start there. I'm just a girl you know.

I eat when I'm stressed ...so the best thing to do is just cut out the stress

right?  .... Do you know anyone willing to take 4 kids off my hands?  ugh. I

guess I'll have to think of something else. I'm going to the store to get my

non-fat cottage cheese now.

Hey Leigh,

I would love to have you as a buddy.  I totally understand what you are going

through with losing and gaining.  I did bfl 7 years ago and lost 30lbs and have

no gained it all back.  I am starting my challenge on May 25th.  My husband is

getting back from Iraq in 10 days and after that we will be on vacation for 2

weeks.  So starting back after we get into a routine is much easier.  Please

feel free to post/email any time.  im in AZ, where are you from?

Hi, My name is Leigh and I'm just starting the Body For Life again.

The last time I did it I lost 25 lbs in like three weeks. I was doing

it with a group of people which was motivating. I've moved away from

that group, however, and am looking for a little motivation. Is

anyone interested in doing this diet with me? We could update each

other on progress daily and keep each other accountable to excersize

and eat right!

Here's a little about me. I weigh about 240 and need to loose 100 lbs

in the long run but I'm shooting for 50 in the next three or four

months while the weather is nice where I live. I don't have a gym to

go to. I can walk or run in the early mornings before my hubby goes

to work but I stay home most of the day with my 4 homeschooled kids.

This makes it hard to stay away from bad food cause it's all around

me.

I say I have to do this diet again cause every time I loose weight I

end up pregnant again and gain 50 lbs all over.

Any body interested?

Leigh

Sounds like you've got plenty of help already, but I'll jump on the bandwagon

too if you like. :D

Just remember one thing, Leigh - it takes TIME as well as consistancy, good

eating and plenty of exercise. It's taken me almost four years, but it CAN be

done.

Why not set yourself a 14 pound loss for the first challenge? It's entirely

acheivable, and if you go over that, you'll feel even better about it! You can

acheive this, just keep at it.

And FOUR kids? Wow...you must run round more than I do! LOL :P

Hi Leigh. Great news you doing BFL. One thing you mentioned that made my

ears prick up - " it's had to stay away from bad bad food cause it's all

around

me. " I can imagine it being difficult with 4 kids around, but why don't you

try and get rid of al the tempting food. Explain to the kids why you are

doing it, and they will be able to help you. You could even say that you

just want to try it for 6 weeks, and would love their help.

You won't have the temptation, they would be having bad food, and they get

to help and focus on you!

Just a thought,

Matt
