*chuckle* i know what you mean , it's either raining or cold here

and when it stops raining, it's pretty dang hot. it can be hard to

feel motivated, except that when you do get a really nice day, you

know you have to get out and enjoy because it wont be there tomorrow.

now you are making me jealous! it was just over freezing here today

with lots of wind and intermittent snow showers, none of which account

for any accumulation in the central city area. You see cars with snow

on them driving by, but no snow on the ground any longer. my husband

delivered packages in the snow today though out in Sandy.

i almost fell on my hiney stepping out of the house today though. we

got this icy patch a while ago that never quite thawed and the snow

last night stuck right to it even though it had melted off the rest

of the driveway. one big reason why i want to lose weight is because

it really hurts to fall down when i'm this heavy.

i looked up a photo, they are neat. i bought some native iris last

spring. luckily i didnt plant them, so i can take them with me when we

move.

i also bought these lovely iris with long thin stems, i have no idea

what kinds they are. i'd like to take some of those with, some

seeded, but i dont know if the seeds are viable.

the website said the Fortnight Lily's go to seed, do the reseed well?

well bill certainly has us beat on the weather

we've been hovering at 0 + or minus a couple here and there.

today we reach 4 C which is warmer than we have been in a while.

after a few more weeks we should consistently reach 10C during the

day, but we'll still hit -2 to 0 a couple of nights a week until June.

our spring weather is irratic. the good days are fantastic, the

majority and wet & cold. all in all, i rather like it most of the

time, i could pretty much pass on January though I do like the

occasional accumulation of snow that we get. Last year we got 6

inches and we had a blast with the sled.

Ok, mary i'm really jealous now, i find 65 to be perfect walking

temperature and 69 to be a pleasantly warm day :)

anything over 70 and i'm too warm these days and turning on the AC

i've had lots of coworkers & friends lately who have had relatives

'wintering over' in Portland and commenting on how 'warm' the weather

is. So it's all relative in the end. i'm thinking, this is the first

winter in a while that i havent gotten out of town to somewhere warmer.

i went to San Francisco 3 years ago and it was 68 & sunny, and one

year we went to the beach and it was 65, this year the beach is

completely getting the onslaught of winter weather, it's a very

unusual pattern for the beach, i guess i will have to find somewhere

warm to go on my weekend off. I have Presidents day and the day

after off. too bad we dont have the money to go to disneyland, that

would be fun! maybe next year. next year could be completely do-able.

anyway, i'm just hoping for a sunny day that isn't windy and freezing.

and i'll be looking forward to my 4 day weekend in 3 weeks.

maybe it will be warm at the Beach or Hood River.

I'm sending you warm & wet weather thoughts !

I was in JC Penney's yesterday and they had lots of clothes on clearence for 75% off.

Elaine

target puts spandex in all their stuff now and has been selling allthe form fitting stuff, not my favorites except that they did have around of Merona t-shirts in XX that fit me really well. Cat & cooking

have taken care of most of them, so i'm hoping to go back and see ifthey have them again. i'm trying to remember their season scheme, they only have certain things at certain seasonal times, which is areal hassle. I think they sell the long sleeves in the fall &

January, and maybe they haven't sold out of the short sleeves yet. they tend only to get a small amount in stock and then sell out sothey don't have excess inventory. laurie

I know what you mean.

Hopefully here it will not be as bad as last year.

At one point a full week (possibly two) with a heat advisory and one day during the advisory a heat warning.

Being a native it was not that bad for me but I know of 3 individuals that spent some time in the hospital because of the heat (with the humidity).

The heat index during that period was a +10F (+6C) or more.

Think about how good that dark chocolate was for you, Janet. I am so glad that in my old age they have discovered that chocolate has good things in it. Now if they will find something wonderful in the Mimosas and Grand Marniers.....

All in all, it sounds like you and Beth did not do too badly for a Sunday. Be good tomorrow.

All summer I told myself that I would do a lot more when it got cool, that it was just too hot and humid to do various projects. Now, to my amazement, it is just too cold and clammy. What is a person to do? I just cannot do it all in the two days of spring and the one week of fall which we get here. I live in the land of excuses....

Re: Weather sure interferes with Walking

a lot better than i ate! i had 1/4 of a waffle, dim sum for lunch, and i ate a bad ole cinnamon roll which stopped tasting good after afew bites, but did i give it up? nooooo....i also has 1/2 of a jamba juice, which was very tasty. i may head tothe gym, i'm trying to get some gumption up to go do it. i'm tired, sleepy and cold now. i'd really just like to go to bed for the night, but it's too early, i'd probably wake up at 4am and not be able to goback to sleep. so i'm sitting here playing on the computer and trying to stay awake. laurie > ...I've definitely been a bad girl today> > Sunday is a hard day to be on program and ambitious. One and the same Bill. I would love it if you would come and weed my garden. I would even cook you some good Cajun food.

My daughter is not so lazy, and spent the afternoon planting Stella D'Oro daylillies. They are a beautiful golden dwarf variety that bloom continuously all season.

Wow, Bill! That is beyond my imagining. With the cost of heating fuel, one wonders how people on fixed incomes can cope. It is 65 degrees here today, and I find it chilly. I just put on thick socks and a sweater before I sat down to read email.

Stay warm and take care of yourself.

For those not familiar with the metric system.+8C = +46F-9C = +16F60 km/hr = 37 mph90 km/hr = 56 mph

The wind chill factor makes it feel even colder.

I guess they do, or either spread via the rizomes. In any case they multipiy like crazy. I cannot remember the year we rented that house in Florida, but it must have been around 2001 or 2002 when my daughter was in college. I took five bulbs. As I said, we have shared with at least a half dozen people, each getting a dozen or two plants and we must have over 100 plants where the original five were planted plus that many more in each of three more clumps where we have transplanted them on our own property. I can't think of anything else we have, except maybe Mexican petunia, that is so prolific.

And some kinds of weeds (:-)....

Dont forget, that's the other side of the Equator, so it's summer there. I assume that we are talking about that Alice Springs...

Don't worry Laurie, I will be jealous next summer when the temps and the humidity are having a contest to see which can be higher.

Re: Weather sure interferes with Walking

Ok, mary i'm really jealous now, i find 65 to be perfect walkingtemperature and 69 to be a pleasantly warm day :)anything over 70 and i'm too warm these days and turning on the ACi've had lots of coworkers & friends lately who have had relatives'wintering over' in Portland and commenting on how 'warm' the weatheris. So it's all relative in the end. i'm thinking, this is the firstwinter in a while that i havent gotten out of town to somewhere warmer. i went to San Francisco 3 years ago and it was 68 & sunny, and oneyear we went to the beach and it was 65, this year the beach iscompletely getting the onslaught of winter weather, it's a veryunusual pattern for the beach, i guess i will have to find somewherewarm to go on my weekend off. I have Presidents day and the dayafter off. too bad we dont have the money to go to disneyland, thatwould be fun! maybe next year. next year could be completely do-able.anyway, i'm just hoping for a sunny day that isn't windy and freezing.and i'll be looking forward to my 4 day weekend in 3 weeks.maybe it will be warm at the Beach or Hood River.I'm sending you warm & wet weather thoughts !laurie In a message dated 1/27/2008> > > 4:34:31 P.M.
