Dear All

I have a very complex patient who wants help with muscle pain.

Very briefly, he is 57, and suffering from heart failure as a result of

years of alcohol and drug abuse. Due to his inability to have a lot of

exercise, (sometimes he is in bed 50% of the day) he suffers from

dreadful pains in his neck and head which is attributed to his lack of

movement. He had a Botox injection some months ago and has had

buprenorphine (an opioid analgesic) - both of which helped for a time

buthe can't have another Botox injection and he is now getting side

effects from the morphine derivative. His GP has suggested Valium or

Amitriptyline - former he had an addiction to and doesn't want to take,

the latter he knows of the side effects and addictiveness.

I've prescribed Aromatic Waters for him in the past - as he cannot take

tinctures - but am thinking about tablets/capsules now.

Medication as follows:-

Bisoprolol (B blocker) - which he is reducing slowly to 3.7 mg (crrent

level 5 mg)

Felodipine (Ca channel blocker)

Butemanide (loop diuretic)

Enalapril (ACE inhibitor)

Tramadol (opioid analgesic)

Potassium chloride

Spironolactone (diuretic)

He has just finished Diclofenac (NSAID) and therefore Omeprazole (Proton

pump inhibitor) and the Buprenorphine.

I have in mind Vib. op, Valerian, Curcuma, Wild Yam and Zingiber and

possibly Hemp Seed Oil.

If anyone has any ideas or advice, I would be really grateful - also

about having capsules made especially - I know Proline do them, does

anyone else?

Thanks

Liz
