Guest guest
I hope this works for you! I am going to consider it, too, especially since I am a diabetic.Sylvia I'm trying to build up my walking slowly. Right now I'm working to get in 10,000 steps a day. Guest guest
Hi Janet and welcome. You’ll find lots of supportive company here who can relate to what you’re saying, so hopefully you won’t feel so lonely. Your description of “psychological labor pain” is great – I’m just visualizing the analogy to how hard it is to get sounds out of your head and the pain meanwhile. I hope you get to read through the various other posts/threads to get ideas on different ways of coping with this (wearing earbuds with white noise or music when in public, keeping TV or music going in the background at home to drown out the quieter trigger sounds, etc.), as well as our search for a cure (see the thread “The CURE ... Neurofeedback”). You’re definitely not alone here. I have had the symptoms of misophonia for most of my life. Have learned to cope and adapt, but it is so frustrating that few people really comprehend the agony we feel. It's lonely. I am blessed to have the support of my family, but sometimes I feel like a real outcast in society. Maybe in time there will be heighted awareness of this mysterious condition. The best way I can describe what I feel is psycological labor pain. You just want to scream " Make it stop! Guest guest
OMG, I don't believe this-- Thank you for the public apology. *crying* It means more to me than you realize. Wow, you surprise me sometimes... Thank you for trying to understand This changes alot for me. > > I'm new here and I do not believe I suffer from these sound sensitivities. It is hard to say as I only know what goes on inside my head and that is challenging enough for me. However,I'm a relatively recovered claustrophobic so am somewhat familiar with the anxiety and stress these types of conditions can cause. To this day I can be confined in relatively small spaces for short periods of time. If you turn up the temperature though all bets are off. > > My girl friend (she knows who she is) believes she does have this condition so I'm here to read, learn and somehow accept her condition and find ways in which I can help her and help myself deal with this. Yes, it has already affected our relationship way beyond my knowledge until very recently. I'm saddened by this and apologize to her publicly if I've come across as uncaring or insensitive. I'm just uneducated about this but willing to move forward to ease her anxiety and give her trust in that I can understand and be there for her. >
