I have five cats and their licking drives me nuts. I just pick up the licker and relocate it to another room so I can neither hear nor see it. I don't let the memory of the licking stay with me by focusing my attention on something else. My cats get moved a lot, but I always give them some loving while I'm moving them....Becky

I have the same problem with my cats. The licking bothers me, and so does the eating... Maybe you could train him not to bathe himself when you're in the room with him? My cats kind of seem to know it's not a good idea to lick themselves around me most of the time. I've thrown them out of the room for doing so enough times!

Honestly, I have no advice for it, only an observation. My sister has a little bunny rabbit...and this is going to sound really strange, but watching the rabbit eat is just the cutest thing in the world for me. How does that work? Humans and my cats eating are an unpleasant necessity that I know I just have to deal with and try not to go insane over (though I have to say my problems with humans eating have improved drastically from when I was a kid...mouth breathing eaters are the only ones that really bother me. Unfortunately, my 11-year-old sister is one of them). Why does the rabbit eating not bother me at all? Is it because of the way rabbits chew their food? Because I didn't have a rabbit in the house until this summer?

<<Like all cats, mine loves to bathe all the time. The tiny sounds of licking are magnified to me, and I hear them from another room, even when I'm totally not thinking about it and have the tv on. It brings me to such a rage I want to throw him outside! I can usually suppress the anger for about a minute, or longer if I am well rested. I am trying to desensitize myself to the sound, and just console myself that he is grooming like he is supposed to, but it is just getting worse. Now even if I have earplugs in and I see him lick, it triggers the sound in my brain. I hate my peripheral vision for this, because I always see him licking out of the corner of my eye. Also, it bothers me now when he is licking as I'm walking by and even after I'm gone, I know he is still doing it, even though I can't hear it. Does anyone have tips concerning pet noises?? I love my cat, but I hate his licking.>>
