Guest guest
I started a walking program on Aug 31, 2006 and soon after that joined this Group and AOM. After walking all of AOM Trails I left that site but have continued to walk and keep track of my daily milage. The first Trail that I did in AOM was US Hwy 50. Then during the Spring of 2008 I drove most of US 50 and decided that my Fantasy Walk would be its length. Well today I finally reached that milestone - 3,011 miles! I have averaged 5.5 miles per day during this effort with maybe 100 days off. This has not been for the purpose of weight loss but rather a blood pressure reducing effort. When I took 3 months off for the drive around the USA I did not walk except for 5 days and when I got home my BP had gone up 10 points. Within a month of my regular walking routine I was back to my new " normal " . I had also lost some weight but by not walking I added it back on. I only weigh every 6-8 months when I go to the VA for a check-up and prescriptions so don't know where I am now but think I have lost again - I look at this as a by product of the BP maintance. Another Fantasy Walk begins tomorrow.
