Turns out my blood platelet count is high as well as my sodium; at 26 years old this does nothing but depress me. Anyone have any suggestions on lowering these numbers? I'm seeing a new dr but would love to hear from anyone who has the same problem! " First, why did the doctor run blood test, what was your complaint? Then he says everything is OK, how did you know that everything was not OK? Second, I have no suggestions on lowering the numbers. I have never been told what my blood platlet count was nor my blood sodium count. However, in doing a quick web search I found the following: An elevated platelet count is known as thrombocytosis. The laboratory where the test was performed will be able to tell whether a platelet count represents an elevated value for this laboratory. An elevated platelet count can be observed in people without significant medical problems. Mild to moderately elevated platelet counts are commonly seen when chronic inflammation is present. This statement seems to indicate that you are turning this into a bigger issue than it might deserve. IF your original complaint was one that might have involved some chronic inflammation the the doctor may have been correct in saying that everything was OK in the test. The lab that did the test may have said it was normal, what makes you say it is high? I wish you luck with the second doctor, but suggest that if he also says everything is OK then accept it and go on with walking to better health.
