I did my own technicians dog that had a medial shoulder injury, no instability,

but pain and lameness localized to the medial aspect of the shoulder. 3

injections, 10 days apart. She has done well thus far with almost complete

resolution of the lameness over a 3 month period from the first injection. So

n=1 is all I can offer. Also did another employees dog that had severe

osteoarthritis of a knee following lateral suture stabilization a few years ago.

Again I did the 3 injection series and after about 60 days he was obviously

better (with changing no other parameters). I am getting ready to do 3 more

dogs, an elbow, a bilateral elbow and bilateral knees all for osteoarthritis, so

I will be able to give some more info in about 2 months or so. Anyone else

trying PRP for OA?

Do you have your own centrifuge or are you using a service?  If using a service, which one?  Thanks.

I did the Arthrex System. Great deal. If you agree to buy a years worth of

syringes over 12 months (60 syringes at about 80 dollars a piece) they will give

you the centrifuge and all hardware free, which saves about $7000. I am doing

my first 6 cases for no charge to see what the response is going to be but based

on the input from some of the MD orthopods here in Bend, I am optimistic that in

OA treatment it will help. My thought process is that it will have some of the

same benefits of stem cell injections. So if I use 20 syringes on my first 6

free cases, then charge a minimum 120 dollars for each of the next 40 syringes,

the syringes are paid for and the equipment is mine. I do local blocks for

joint injections except for hips. The only risk is that if I decide it does not

work well enough, I am out the cost of the syringes (I could always sell the

equipment to the Orthopedic Center her in town, as Arthrex quoted them $11000

dollars for centrifuge). Hope this helps

I have used PrP in 3 achilles and in one supraspinatus tendon. I only do a single injection. All injected under ultrasound guidance. Great results with return to sport.  I am too chicken to use it in joints yet as I am concerned about fibrin deposits. The equine people are transitioning to IRAP
